God's work must be carried forward strongly and upward. This cannot be done unless the sensuality that corrupts the whole man is separated from the religious experience. This work must be done.
     Church members need to fast and pray, striving earnestly to overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony. Not one particle of Sodomitish impurity will escape the wrath of God at the execution of the Judgment. Those who do not repent of and forsake all uncleanness will fall with the wicked. Those who become members of the royal family and form God's Kingdom in the earth made new, will be saints, not sinners. Isaiah 30:1-3, 8-16.
     Those who have had great light and have disregarded it stand in a worse position than those who have not been given so many advantages. They exalt themselves, but not the Lord. The punishment inflicted on human beings will in every case be proportionate to the dishonor they have brought on God. “The prophet Ezekiel describes a class whose example Christians should not imitate. ‘Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.’ Ezekiel 16:49.
We are not ignorant of the fall of Sodom because of the corruption of its inhabitants. The prophet has here [i.e., in Ezekiel 16:49] specified the particular evils which led to dissolute morals.      “The message to the church of the Laodiceans applies especially to the people of God today [i.e., to the professed people of God today]. So then because thou art lukewarm [i.e., the term, 'lukewarm,' in reality means 'aiding the enemy,' as defined in 4T 87:2; and, please remember, the enemy or Satan is the god of heathenism, the father of lies, the murderer from the beginning, and many other wicked things], and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of My mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich [i.e., rich and self-satisfied with earthly things; or rich and self-satisfied with the things of this world], and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou are wretched, and miserable, and poor [i.e., poor in spiritual things; or poor in the things of Heaven], and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.’ [Revelation 3:14-18.]. . . .
     Only those who receive the seal of the living God will have the passport through the gates of the Holy City. But there are many who take upon themselves responsibilities in connection with the work of God who are not wholehearted believers, and while they remain thus cannot receive the seal of the living God. They trust in their own righteousness, which the Lord accounts as foolishness. . . .
     The great mass of professing Christians will meet with bitter disappointment in the day of God. They have not upon their foreheads the seal of the living God. Lukewarm and halfhearted, they dishonor God far more than the avowed unbeliever. Therefore, as seen above and more yet below, since the worldly, openly “heathen,” and/or openly Sodom-like church of the impenitent and openly “heathen” “Laodiceans” predictably tolerate, excuse, and cloak over their open idolatry and their other openly “heathen,” worldly, and/or Sodom-like behavior to include their open homosexuality, for example, as may be openly and plainly seen, because their open homosexuality is openly and plainly advertised to the world, no less, by “Seventh-day Adventist Kinship International” [sic] on their world wide web at http://www.sdakinship.org ; and, therefore, since penitent and Christian Seventh-day Adventists and their sealed “church in Philadelphia” are thus in direct contrast to, and are therefore in distinction from impenitent and “heathen” “Laodiceans” and their openly Sodom-like “church of the Laodiceans” [i.e., see Revelation 3:7-12; and TM 445:2-446:2 also discussed later below]; - - penitent and Christian Seventh-day Adventists will take heed to the Lord’s salvation-related forewarning regarding “heathen,” “worse than dead,” “lukewarm Laodiceans,” who are also “fraudulent” or “not genuine” “Christians,” according to the Lord’s further definition “of such,” as follows:

“Those who claim to be the children of God, and yet do not obey His commands, who are hearers but not doers of the Word, are regarded by the Lord as bankers regard fraudulent bank-notes. They are not genuine. They claim the name of Christian, but in reality they are heathen. To those who do not practise it, the Word of God is a dead letter. Christ says of such, ‘I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of My mouth.’ [Revelation 3:15-16.] If they realized that they were sinners, He could plead in their behalf, and the Lord would arouse them by His Holy Spirit. But He can not present them to the Father; for they are worse than dead in trespasses and sins. They hear the Word, but make no application of it to themselves.       “Those that overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil, will be the favored ones who shall receive the seal of the living God. Those whose hands are not clean, whose hearts are not pure, will not have the seal of the living God. . . .
     This sealing of the servants of God is the same that was shown to Ezekiel in vision. John also had been a witness of this most startling revelation. . . .
     The same angel who visited Sodom is sounding the note of warning, ‘Escape for thy life.’ [Genesis 19:17.] The bottles of God's wrath cannot be poured out to destroy the wicked and their works until all the people of God have been Judged, and the cases of the living as well as the dead are decided. And even after the saints are sealed with the seal of the living God, His elect will have trials individually. Personal afflictions will come; but the furnace is closely watched by an eye that will not suffer the gold to be consumed. The indelible mark of God is upon them. God can plead that His own name is written there. The Lord has shut them in.
