God's grace; man's need; and
those professing Christians, and
professing Seventh-day Adventists;
Who are lost, openly heathen, worse than dead, and worse than infidels;
who are aiding Satan, the demon god of heathenism; who are Satan’s mediums;
who actually excuse and promote their own open sin, vain worship,
self-worship, will-worship, the worship of their own ideas of opinion,
witchcraft and demon worship, gods or idols worship, the worship of the dead,
Satan worship, and thus the worship of they know not what; who have worked
virtually undetected and hidden in darkness for much too long now; and,
who boast they are in need of nothing and are thus lost without God’s grace --
--
right now -- and even still in the day of God.

Our Father in Heaven, we respectfully ask that You give those very few genuinely penitent and humble souls, who are living in the hope of being Judged by You to be Your true people, the power to understand and the courage to act upon the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God, which plainly and clearly reveal that the heathen are not Christian, and thus that the great mass of impenitent, lost, openly heathen, worse than dead, worse than infidels, Satan-aiding or lukewarm Laodiceans in a professing Christian guise and in a professing Seventh-day Adventist guise are in reality neither Christians nor Seventh-day Adventists; but, are used by Satan to do a work that no one else can do. That they be not led astray by this vast, heathen, and Laodicean majority and or by this heathen and Laodicean multitude to follow them to do evil or to do heathenism in a professing religious guise. We humbly ask that You help those precious few, who You will Judge to be Your true people, to understand and to act upon the Heaven-sent fact that heathen, Laodicean wrong-doers sympathize with, are attracted to, and appreciate other heathen, Laodicean wrong-doers. May Your will be done. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen."

"3 Thou shalt have no other gods before Me." --- Exodus 20:3.

        "11 . . . . the gods . . . of the heathen . . . ." --- Zephaniah 2:11.

"The first commandment is a requirement in reference to man's worship." --- 2SAT 181, "The Giving of the Law;" or MS 126, December 10, 1901.

The only reason the following Heaven-sent quote is received and is acted upon but by a very few Christians is because of the simple fact that the "heathen," "worse than dead," "lukewarm Laodiceans" are also therefore "fraudulent" or "not genuine" "Christians," have been and are in the majority or the "greater part" [4T 87:2], and are thus described exactly as just stated by the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God, as follows:

"Thou shalt have [i.e., follow; be like; be occupied with; like; use; require; cause to be made; worship; and/or have] no other gods before Me,’ is the first great command, and upon this command depends all the rest. [Exodus 20:3.] This is the substance of all obedience. Let those who profess to be Christians remember that profession will not save them. The life which Christ alone can give is given upon condition of obedience, an obedience which takes in the whole man,--mind, heart, soul, and strength. This is true sanctification. ‘This do, and thou shalt live,’ is the only genuine definition of sanctification. [Luke 10:18.]. . . .
Those who claim to be the children of God, and yet do not obey His commands, who are hearers but not doers of the Word, are regarded by the Lord as bankers regard fraudulent bank-notes. They are not genuine. They claim the name of Christian, but in reality they are heathen. To those who do not practise it, the Word of God is a dead letter. Christ says of such,I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of My mouth.’ [Revelation 3:15b-16.] If they realized that they were sinners, He could plead in their behalf, and the Lord would arouse them by His Holy Spirit [i.e., by His power; by His true Latter Rain]. But He can not present them to the Father; for they are worse than dead in trespasses and sins. They hear the Word, but make no application of it to themselves. Instead, they apply the Word to their neighbors. God can be no power to lukewarm Laodiceans." --- ST August 2, 1899, "The Two Great Principles of the Law;" or 4ST 50:1:1, 4. Bracketed notes supplied.

    "11 . . . . the gods . . . of the heathen . . . ." --- Zephaniah 2:11.

    "15 . . . . the idols of the heathen . . . ." --- Psalms 135:15.

   "26 . . . . all the gods of the people are idols . . . ." --- 1 Chronicles 16:26.

"1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the Word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the TRUTH commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. 3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world [i.e., please see below] hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake." --- 2 Corinthians 4:1-5. Bracketed note supplied.

"The message to the church of the Laodiceans applies especially to the people of God today [i.e., to the professed people of God today]. It is a message to professing Christians who have become so much like the world [i.e., thus, please remember the ‘god of this world’ and more spoken of just above, and see the next two Heaven-sent quotes and more below] that no difference can be seen. [Revelation 3:14-18 quoted.]." --- 7BC 959:2:1, "Read the Third Chapter of Revelation;" or RH August 20, 1903. Bracketed notes supplied.

". . . . aiding the enemy [i.e., and/or aiding Satan, who is the secretly disguised demon god of this world, of heathenism, of spiritualism, of sorcery, of rebellion, of witchcraft, and/or of witchcraft and demon worship; the father of lies; the prince of darkness; and the enemy of God and man] . . . The term 'lukewarm' is applicable to this class." --- 4T 87:2, written in 1876. Bracketed note supplied.

"Satan [i.e., the enemy of God and man; the secretly disguised demon god of this world, of heathenism, of spiritualism, of rebellion, of witchcraft, of witchcraft and demon worship, and/or of disguised Satan worship; the father of lies; and the prince of darkness], by means of his success in turning man aside from the path of obedience, becamethe god of this world [i.e., please see ‘the world’ or ‘the church of the Laodiceans,’ who are involved in ‘will-worship,’ or in ‘modern, counterfeit sanctification,’ as discussed in the next two Heaven-sent quotes below].2 Corinthians 4:4." --- PK 682, "The Coming of a Deliverer," written in 1915. Bracketed notes supplied.

"The message to the church of the Laodiceans applies especially to the people of God today [i.e., to the professed people of God today]. It is a message to professing Christians who have become so much like the world [i.e., thus, please remember the ‘god of this world,’ ‘Satan,’ spoken of above to the beginning of this study; therefore please remember the ‘heathen’ ‘gods’ of the worldly or ‘heathen,’ ‘worse than dead,’ Satan-aiding or ‘lukewarm Laodiceans,’ who are described by the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God, as being ‘fraudulent’ or ‘not genuine’ ‘Christians’ as seen earlier above in the fourth quote of this study, and as being ‘so much like the world that no difference can be seen’ in this present Heaven-sent quote and, thus, please see below] that no difference can be seen. [Revelation 3:14-18 quoted.]." --- 7BC 959:2:1, "Read the Third Chapter of Revelation;" or RH August 20, 1903. Bracketed notes supplied.

"During the meetings at Orebro I was urged by the Spirit of the Lord to present His law as the great standard of righteousness and to warn our people against the modern, counterfeit sanctification which has its origin in will-worship rather than in submission to the will of God. This error is fast flooding the world [i.e., thus, please remember above, and see below], and as God's witnesses we shall be called to bear a decided testimony against it." --- FW 51:1, "A Warning Against Counterfeit Sanctification," or RH October 5, 1886. Bracketed note supplied.

"The message to the church of the Laodiceans applies especially to the people of God today [i.e., to the professed people of God today]. It is a message to professing Christians who have become so much like the world [i.e., please remember ‘the world;’ ‘will-worship;’ ‘modern, counterfeit sanctification;’ ‘Satan,’ ‘the god of this world’ and of the ‘heathen;’ the ‘gods’ ‘worship’ or idols’ ‘worship’ of the ‘heathen;’ and ‘heathen,’ ‘worse than dead,’ ‘Satan’ ‘aiding’ or ‘enemy’ ‘aiding’ or ‘lukewarm Laodiceans,’ who are further defined by the Word as being ‘fraudulent’ or ‘not genuine’ ‘Christians,’ and/or the ‘heathen’ ‘church of the Laodiceans,’ ‘who have become ‘so much like the world that no difference can be seen,’ as plainly discussed in this present quote together with the other Heaven-sent quotes to the beginning of this study, just above] that no difference can be seen.
‘14 And unto the angel of he church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and True Witness, the beginning of the creation of God; 15 I know thy works [i.e., thy worldly; idolatrous; gods or idols worshiping; will-worshiping; counterfeit sanctification promoting; heathen; worse than dead; fraudulent or not genuine; Satan aiding, or enemy aiding, or lukewarm Laodicean works], that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm [i.e., please see below], and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of My mouth. 17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have NEED of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: 18 I counsel thee to buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.’ Revelation 3:14-18." --- 7BC 959:2:1, "Read The Third Chapter Of Revelation;" or RH August 20, 1903.

"The prayer of faith is the great strength of the Christian and will assuredly prevail against Satan [i.e., the secretly disguised demon god of this world, of heathenism, of spiritualism, of rebellion, of witchcraft, of witchcraft and demon worship, and/or of disguised Satan worship; the father of lies; the prince of darkness; and the enemy of God and man]. This is why he insinuates that we have no NEED of prayer. The name of Jesus, our Advocate, he detests; and when we earnestly come to Him for help, Satan's host is alarmed. It serves his purpose well if we neglect the exercise of prayer, for then his lying wonders are more readily received. . . His arts and devices are received as from Heaven, and faith in the detector, the Bible, is destroyed in the minds of thousands. Satan here receives the worship which suits his Satanic majesty. Thousands are conversing with, and receiving instructions from, this demon-god and acting according to his teachings." --- 1T 296:2-297:1, "Philosophy and Vain Deceit," written in 1862.

"Let the repenting soul repeat the promise that Jesus has made,--’Him that cometh unto Me I will in no wise cast OUT.’ Let him tell the enemy, ‘The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.’ ‘This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.’ Tell the enemy that you know your garments are stained with sin, but that by faith you claim the righteousness of Christ. Turn to Jesus, and tell Him all your trouble; Christ sees all your circumstances, knows all your temptations and sorrows. The enemy will suggest that you stay away from Christ until you have made yourself better, until you are good enough to come to God; but do not listen to his suggestions; for if you wait till you are good enough to come to God, you will never come. You might wait until the Judgment, but you would not be fit to come to Christ. ‘Now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation.’ You are to yield to the drawing power of Christ's love to-day, and come to Him as you are. As you come, He will continue to draw you, until every thought shall be brought into captivity to Jesus. When the enemy would keep you from your Saviour, accusing you of being a sinner, tell him that you are entitled to go to the Lord, since He has said, ‘I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.’ The accuser of the brethren told the repentant publican that he was a sinner; and he dared not so much as lift up his eyes to Heaven, but smote upon his breast, and cried, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner,’ and he went down to his house justified. The coming of the sinner is not unwelcome to Christ. He says, ‘Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls.’ When Christ was upon earth, at one time certain Greeks came, saying. ‘Sir, we would see Jesus.’ On every side were those who were cruel and vindictive, who were seeking an opportunity to put Jesus out of the way, for they rejected the Lord of glory; and how precious to Jesus was the thought that there were earnest souls who desired to see Him. The Master's heart warmed with satisfaction that some one wanted to see Jesus. When the Voice of God speaks to the heart, and the heart responds to it, we shall hear the inquiry, ‘Sir, I would see Jesus.’ Heaven is all ready to receive those who receive Jesus. Then let us come to Him, asking for the very things that we NEED [i.e., thus, please see ‘need’ and more discussed in the next three inspired quotes below], believing that we shall receive them." --- Messenger January 18, 1893. Bracketed note supplied.

"God loves the sinless angels, who do His service and are obedient to all His commands; but He does not give them GRACE; they have never NEEDED it, for they have never sinned. GRACE is an attribute shown to undeserving human beings. We did not seek after it; it was sent in search of us. God rejoices to bestow GRACE upon all who hunger and thirst for it, not because we are worthy, but because we are unworthy. Our NEED [i.e., please see ‘need’ in the quote above and in the next two quotes below] is the qualification which gives us the assurance that we shall receive the gift." --- TM 519, written on June 14, 1914 [i.e., from a little inspired tract, the last of Sister White’s writing before her death on July 16, 1915 at 3:40 PM at her home, "Elmshaven," in California]. Bracketed notes supplied.

"The Laodicean message applies to the people of God who profess to believe present TRUTH. The greater part are lukewarm professors . . . aiding the enemy . . . The term ‘lukewarm’ is applicable to this class. . . .

The only hope for the Laodiceans is a clear view of their standing before God, a knowledge of the nature of their disease. . . The internal work of GRACE is wanting in their hearts; of such it is said: ‘Thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have NEED of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked. [Revelation 3:17.].
Faith and love [i.e., not counterfeit or heathen faith and love; but, true or Christian faith and love] are the TRUE riches, the pure gold which the True Witness counsels the lukewarm to buy. However rich we may be in earthly treasure, all our wealth will not enable us to buy the precious remedies that cure the disease of the soul called lukewarmness [i.e., and/or that cure the disease of the soul called aiding Satan, the god of this world, of heathenism, and/or of spiritualism; and/or that cure the disease of the soul called ‘aiding the enemy,’ which is exactly what the terms, ‘lukewarmness’ and ‘lukewarm,’ in reality mean, according to the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God in 4T 87:2-88:2]. Intellect and earthly riches were powerless to remove the defects of the Laodicean church, or to remedy their deplorable condition. They were blind, yet felt that they were well off. The Spirit of God did not illumine their minds, and they did not perceive their sinfulness; therefore they did not feel the NECESSITY of help.
To be without the GRACES of the Spirit of God is sad indeed; but it is a more terrible condition to be thus destitute of spirituality and OF CHRIST, and yet try to justify ourselves by telling those who are alarmed for us that we NEED not their fears and pity. Fearful is the power of self-deception on the human mind! What blindness! setting light for darkness and darkness for light [i.e., this, please see the next two Heaven sent quotes below]!" --- 4T 87:2. 87:3, 88:1-3, "The Testing Process," written in 1876. Bracketed notes supplied.

"20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" --- Isaiah 5:20.

"The spiritualist teachers [i.e., and/or the heathen teachers; and/or the spiritualistic or heathen; worse than dead; modern, counterfeit sanctification promoting; will-worshiping; gods or idols worshiping; Satan worshiping; Satan-aiding or lukewarm, Laodicean teachers] virtually . . . ‘put darkness for light, and light for darkness .’ Isaiah 5:20. . . .
It is TRUE that spiritualism [i.e., and/or a modernized form of ancient heathenism, as seen in ST May 9, 1906, or 4ST 420] is now changing its form and, veiling some of its more objectionable features, is assuming a Christian guise.

Even in its present form, so far from being more worthy of toleration than formerly, it is really a more dangerous, because a more subtle deception. While it formerly denounced Christ and the Bible, it now professes to accept both. But the Bible is interpreted in a manner that is pleasing to the unrenewed heart, while its solemn and vital TRUTHS are made of no effect [i.e., thus, see 1SM 48:4-5; and RH August 19, 1890, or 2RH 429-420]. Love is dwelt upon as the chief attribute of God, but it is degraded to a weak sentimentalism making little distinction between good and evil. God's Justice [i.e., thus, see God’s ‘principle of Justice’ explained and discussed in ST May 27, 1903; or 4ST 291], His denunciations of sin, the requirements of His holy law, are all kept out of sight." --- GC 557:1, 557:3-558:1, "Can Our Dead Speak to Us?," written in 1911. Bracketed notes supplied.

"Modern spiritualism , resting upon the same foundation, is but a revival [i.e., see more of this ‘counterfeit’ ‘revival,’ which is an on-going, ‘latter times,’ ‘counterfeit’ ‘revival’ of ‘spiritualism’ ‘to take place immediately before the second advent of Christ;’ and/or which is an on-going, ‘latter times,’ ‘counterfeit’ ‘revival’ of ‘spiritualism;’ and/or of ‘sorcery;’ and/or of ‘witchcraft;’ and/or of the ‘communion with the dead;’ and/or of the ‘deification of the dead;’ and/or of the ‘worship of the dead;’ and/or of the ‘worship of dead men;’ and/or of ‘demon worship;’ and/or of ‘witchcraft and idol worship;’ and/or of ‘witchcraft and demon worship;’ and/or of ‘heathenism;’ and/or of ‘heathen idolatry;’ and/or of the openly ‘spiritualistic’ or openly ‘heathen,’ ‘worse than dead,’ ‘vain’ worshiping, ‘self’ worshiping, ‘Satan’ ‘aiding’ or ‘enemy’ ‘aiding’ or ‘lukewarm Laodiceans’ of the openly ‘spiritualistic’ or openly ‘heathen’ ‘church of the Laodiceans,’ as plainly discussed in contrast to God’s true ‘revival of primitive godliness as has not been witnessed since apostolic times’, and as set forth by the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God in Revelation 3:14-19; 20MR 90-91, or Letter 264, 1903; 7BC 962:2:2, or MS 61, 1898; 7BC 970:1:7, or Letter 121, 1903; AA 248:4-249:1; ST May 9, 1906, or 4ST 420; ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50:1:4; 4T 87:2-88:3; GC 557:1; ST May 9, 1906, or 4ST 420; Obadiah 1:3-4, 15-16; ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50; Psalms 115:2-8; 135:15-18; 1 Chronicles 16:26 (Daniel 3:18; 5:4, 23-24; 5T 83:4-84:1, 217:2; 8T 247:2-250:1); Matthew 15:9; PP 305:4-306:1, 336:2; Revelation 22:14-15; 1 Corinthians 10:14-15; PP 684:1-686:2; GC 464:2-465:1, 478:4, 554:2-562:2; and much more] in a new form of the witchcraft and demon worship that God CONDEMNED and PROHIBITED of old. It is foretold in the Scriptures, which declare that ‘in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.1 Timothy 4:1. Paul, in his second letter to the Thessalonians, points to the special working of Satan in spiritualism as an event to take place immediately before the second advent of Christ. Speaking of Christ's second coming, he declares that it is ‘after the working of Satan [i.e., after working of the enemy] with all power and signs and lying wonders.2 Thessalonians 2:9." --- PP 686:2, "Ancient and Modern Sorcery," written in 1890. Bracketed notes supplied.

"Many are Laodiceans, living in a spiritual self-deception. They clothe themselves in the garments of their own righteousness . . . their whole life being a lie. " --- 7BC 962:2:1, "Bankrupt!;" or Letter 66, 1894.

". . . . aiding the enemy [i.e., and/or aiding Satan, who is the father of lies; the secretly disguised demon god of this world, of heathenism, of spiritualism, of sorcery, of rebellion, of witchcraft, of witchcraft and demon worship, and/or of disguised Satan worship; the prince of darkness; and the enemy of God and man] . . . The term 'lukewarm' is applicable to this class." --- 4T 87:2, written in 1876. Bracketed note supplied.

"Many are Laodiceans, living in a spiritual self-deception. They clothe themselves in the garments of their own righteousness . . . their whole life being a lie. " --- 7BC 962:2:1, "Bankrupt!;" or Letter 66, 1894.

"Spiritualism is a lie." --- ST November 13, 1884, "Science Falsely So Called;" or 1ST 470:1:1. Bracketed note supplied.

"History is repeating. With the open Bible before them, and professing to reverence its teachings, many of the religious leaders of our time are destroying faith in it as the Word of God. They busy themselves with dissecting the Word, and set their opinions above its plainest statements. In their hands, God's Word loses its regenerating power. This is why infidelity is riot and iniquity is rife.
When Satan [i.e., when the enemy] has undermined faith in the Bible, he directs men to other sources for light and power [i.e., thus, he directs men to other sources for false, spiritualist, and/or heathen light and power; and/or he directs men to other sources for darkness called light and for heathen power]. Thus, he insinuates himself. Those who turn from the plain teaching of Scripture and the convicting power of God's Holy Spirit are inviting the control of demons. Criticism and speculation concerning the Scriptures have opened the way for Spiritualism and theosophy--those modernized forms of ancient heathenism- -to gain a foothold even in the professed churches of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Side by side with the preaching of the Gospel, agencies are at work, which are but the medium of lying spirits." --- ST May 9, 1906, "A Failure to Study and Teach God's Word," "Incoming Delusions;" or 4ST 420.

"Spiritualism is a lie. It is founded on the great original lie,Thou shalt not surely die.’ [Genesis 3:4.]." --- ST November 13, 1884, "Science Falsely So Called;" or 1ST 470:1:1. Bracketed note supplied.

"Spiritualism [i.e., and/or a modernized form of ancient heathenism, just as we have already seen in ST May 9, 1906, or 4ST 420 cited four Heaven-sent quotes above] teaches ‘that man is the creature of progression; that it is his destiny from his birth to progress, even to eternity, toward the Godhead [i.e., therefore, lost, impenitent, spiritualistic, or heathen Laodiceans are forever exclaiming about their birth; and/or, predictably, are forever foolishly boasting, in effect, that they were born and raised in the openly spiritualistic or openly heathen church of the Laodiceans; and/or, predictably, are forever asking, in effect, if you too were born and raised in the openly spiritualistic or openly heathen church of the Laodiceans like they were].’ . . . .
To the self-indulgent, the pleasure-loving, the sensual, Spiritualism [i.e., again, please remember spiritualism is the same thing as heathenism, or spiritualism is a modernized form of ancient heathenism, just as we have already seen in ST May 9, 1906, or 4ST 420; and, thus, God’s salvation-related warnings regarding spiritualism or heathenism include not only His often-times foolishly ignored or rejected warnings regarding the deceptive, guilty, openly spiritualistic, or openly heathen churches of the Babylonians in a professing Christian guise; but, also, according to ST May 27, 1903, or 4ST 291, and thus according to God’s ‘principle of Justice,’ God’s salvation-related warnings regarding spiritualism or heathenism include His often-times foolishly ignored or rejected warnings regarding the even more deceptive, even more guilty, openly spiritualistic, or openly heathen churches of the Laodiceans in both a professing Christian guise and in a professing Seventh-day Adventist guise] presents itself under a less subtle disguise than to the more refined and intellectual; in its grosser forms they find that which is in harmony with their inclinations. Satan [i.e., the enemy] studies every indication of the frailty of human nature, he marks the sins which each individual is inclined to commit, and then he takes care that opportunities shall not be wanting to gratify the tendency to evil. He tempts men to excess in that which is in itself lawful, causing them, through intemperance, to weaken physical, mental, and moral power. He has destroyed and is destroying thousands through the indulgence of the passions, thus brutalizing the entire nature of man. And to complete his work [i.e., and/or to complete his work of spiritualism or heathenism among a people, as he has completed his work of spiritualism or heathenism among the deceptive, guilty, openly spiritualistic or openly heathen churches of the Babylonians in a professing Christian guise, and as he has also completed his work among the even more deceptive, even more guilty, openly spiritualistic or openly heathen churches of the Laodiceans in both a professing Christian guise and in a professing Seventh-day Adventist guise], he declares, through the spirits, thattrue knowledge places man above all law;’ thatwhatsoever is, is right;’ thatGod doth not condemn;’ and thatall sins which are committed are innocent.’ When the people are thus led to believe that desire [i.e., please see that this ‘desire’ is the sin of covetousness, as explained in Exodus 20:17 and PP 309:4-5] is the highest law, that liberty is license, and that man is accountable only to himself, who can wonder that corruption [i.e., thus, please remember what causes man to ‘corrupt’ himself, as seen in Deuteronomy 4:12-18; Romans 1:21-32; Isaiah 58:13-14; Acts 17:16, 29-31; 1 Corinthians 10:14-15; and much more] and depravity teem on every hand? Multitudes eagerly accept teachings that leave them at liberty to obey the promptings of the carnal heart. The reins of self-control are laid upon the neck of lust, the powers of mind and soul are made subject to the animal propensities, and Satan [i.e., the enemy] exultingly sweeps into his net thousands who profess to be followers of Christ.

White some ten years before her death in 1915 [i.e., but this original title was falsely softened by an "intentional suppression of the truth" (PP 309:2-3) and presumptuously changed to read: "Testimonies for the Church Containing Messages of Warning and Instruction to Seventh-day Adventists" on the 1995 EGW CD-ROM officially issued by the falsely so-called or some time Trustees of the EGW Estate of the openly spiritualistic or openly heathen church of the Laodiceans, who are even right now in the much worse and much more wide-spread openly spiritualistic or openly heathen omega of apostasy].         "16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour." --- Exodus 20:16.

"'Thou shalt not bear false witness [i.e., a lie; a fraud or a direct falsehood grossly deceiving; darkness; spiritualism; heathenism; and/or enemy-aiding or lukewarm Laodiceanism] against thy neighbour.' [Exodus 20:16.].
False speaking in any matter, every attempt or purpose to deceive our neighbor, is here included. An intention to deceive is what constitutes falsehood. By a glance of the eye, a motion of the hand, an expression of the countenance, a falsehood may be told as effectually as by words. All intentional overstatement, every hint or insinuation calculated to convey an erroneous or exaggerated impression, even the statement of facts in such a manner as to mislead, is falsehood. This precept FORBIDS every effort to injure our neighbor's reputation by misrepresentation or evil surmising, by slander or tale bearing. Even the intentional suppression of TRUTH, by which injury may result to others, is a violation of the ninth commandment [i.e., there is a horrendous amount of this ‘intentional suppression of truth, by which injury may result to others’ (PP 309:2-3) going on today in and by the openly heathen church of the Laodiceans for example, on a corporate scale, by their intentionally suppressing or leaving SA 100-101 on ‘abortion’ being the ‘murder’ of unborn ‘babes’ off from the EGW Estate’s officially issued 1995 EGW CD-ROM and by thus seeking to deprive the people of knowledge and to keep the people in the dark about the thousands of murders of unborn ‘babes’ (SA 1001-10) or about the thousands of elective ‘abortions’ (SA 100-101) going on right now in the openly murderous or openly human being sacrificing, openly heathen, worse than dead, Satan aiding or lukewarm church of the Laodiceans and/or in their hospitals around the world; and/or there is a horrendous amount of this ‘false witness’ or ‘intentional suppression of truth, by which injury may result to others’ (PP 309:2-3) going on today in and by the openly heathen church of the Laodiceans for yet one more example, on a corporate scale, by their shamelessly not releasing all of Ellen G. White’s inspired writings to the church, even though she died some 92 years ago in 1915; but, instead, by their willful efforts to deprive the people of salvation-related knowledge by wickedly keeping a carefully selected and very large portion of her inspired, salvation-related, and much-to-much revealing writings intentionally suppressed, imprisoned, and/or locked up in the vaults of the falsely so-called or some time Trustees of the EGW Estate of the openly spiritualistic or heathen church of the Laodiceans]." --- PP 309:2-3, written in 1890.         "I state TRUTH. The souls who love God, who believe in Christ, and who eagerly grasp every ray of light, will see light, and rejoice in the TRUTH. They will communicate the light. They will grow in holiness. Those who receive the Holy Spirit will feel the chilling atmosphere that surrounds the souls of others by whom these great and solemn realities are unappreciated and spoken against. They feel that they are in the council of the ungodly, of men who stand in the way of sinners, and sit in the seat of the scornful.

The Word of God speaketh TRUTH, not a lie. In it is nothing strained, nothing extreme, nothing overdone. We are to accept it as the Word of the living God. In obedience to that Word, the church have duties to perform which they have not done. . . .
Work with the Spirit of Christ, with the mind of Christ to correct existing evils. Expect that the wrongdoers will have the sympathy of wrongdoers; but faithful shepherds of the flock have lessons to learn in order to keep on an elevated standard and yet teach that the star of hope is still shining. Work on patiently; but rebuke sin firmly, and give it no sanction. The refuge of lies for the covering up of sin must be torn away in order that poor deluded souls may not sleep on to their everlasting ruin.

The world is soon to be left by the angel of mercy, and the seven last plagues are to be poured out. Sin, shame, sorrow, and darkness are on every side; but God still holds out to the souls of men the precious privilege of exchanging darkness for light, error for TRUTH, sin for righteousness. But God's patience and mercy will not always wait. Let not one soul think that he can hide from God's wrath behind a lie, for God will strip from the soul the refuge of lies. The bolts of God's wrath are soon to fall, and when He shall begin to punish the transgressors, there will be no period of respite until the end. The storm of God's wrath is gathering, and those only will stand who are sanctified through the TRUTH in the love of God. They shall be hid with Christ in God till the desolation shall be overpast. . . .
The end of all things is at hand. The Lord is soon coming . Already His Judgments are abroad in our land. We are not only to talk of Christ's coming, but in every action we are to reveal the fact that He is soon to be manifested in the clouds of Heaven with power and great glory. Have we the wedding garment on? Have we personal piety? Have we cooperated with divine agencies in a wholehearted, unreserved manner, in weaving into our life's practices the divine principles of God's holy law? It is one thing to talk the law, and it is another thing entirely to practice it. It is the doers of the law that shall be justified before God; for those who do the law represent the character of God, and lie not against the TRUTH. . . .
Let the son of deceit and false witness be entertained by a church that has had great light, great evidence, and that church will discard the message the Lord has sent, and receive the most unreasonable assertions and false suppositions and false theories. Satan laughs at their folly, for he knows what TRUTH is.
Many will stand in our pulpits with the torch of false prophecy in their hands, kindled from the hellish torch of Satan [i.e., the enemy]. If doubts and unbelief are cherished, the faithful ministers will be removed from the people who think they know so much. ‘If thou hadst known,’ said Christ, ‘even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.’ [Luke 19:42.]. . . .
God will not condemn any at the Judgment because they honestly believed a lie [i.e., and/or because they honestly believed in darkness; and/or because they honestly believed in heathenism; and/or honestly believed in Laodiceanism], or conscientiously cherished error; but it will be because they neglected the opportunities of making themselves acquainted with TRUTH. The infidel will be condemned, not because he was an infidel, but because he did not take advantage of the means God has placed within his reach to enable him to become a Christian. . . .
God loves the sinless angels, who do His service and are obedient to all His commands; but He does not give them GRACE; they have never NEEDED it, for they have never sinned. GRACE is an attribute shown to undeserving human beings. We did not seek after it; it was sent in search of us. God rejoices to bestow GRACE upon all who hunger and thirst for it, not because we are worthy, but because we are unworthy. Our NEED is the qualification which gives us the assurance that we shall receive the gift." --- TM 90:1-2, 182:2-3, 187:2, 409:3-410:1, 437:2, 519:3, "Communication Of Light," "Improvement In The Work," "The Lord Is Soon Coming," "Elevate the Standard," "The fatal Choice," "Why Condemned," The Victorious Like." Bracketed note supplied.

"4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law." --- 1 John 3:4.

"Sin prevails among the people of God [i.e., among the professed people of God]. The plain message of rebuke to the Laodiceans is not received. Many cling to their doubts and their darling sins while they are in so great a deception as to talk and feel that they are in NEED of nothing. They think the Testimony of the Spirit of God in reproof is uncalled for or that it does not mean them. Such are in the greatest NEED of the GRACE of God and spiritual discernment that they may discover their deficiency in spiritual knowledge. They lack almost every qualification NECESSARY to perfect Christian character. They have not a practical knowledge of Bible TRUTH, which leads to lowliness of life and a conformity of their will to the will of Christ [i.e., thus, although openly sinning, foolishly impenitent, and heathen Laodiceans will not admit it, they are by definition in ‘will-worship’ rather than being in ‘submission’ to the ‘will of God’ on many, many issues, just as may be plainly seen in the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God in FW 51:1; or RH October 5, 1886]. They are not living in obedience to all God's requirements [i.e., thus, they are not in ‘true worship,’ but they are in the direct opposite or they are in false worship, and they are not in obedience to the first angel’s message of Revelation 14 in regards to ‘worship,’ as seen in DA 189:3; John 4:23-24; and Revelation 14:6-7].
It is not enough to merely profess to believe the TRUTH. All the soldiers of the cross of Christ [i.e., not all the soldiers of the heathen cross image, which is an self-exalting and abominable ‘instrument of torture,’ and which is ‘associated with the power of Rome,’ as seen in DA 416:4-417:1; but, all the soldiers of ‘self-denial,’ ’self-sacrifice,’ and such self-less actions, which are the true Christ of Christ, as seen in 7BC 963, or MS 138, 1902 and much more] virtually obligate themselves to enter the crusade against the adversary of souls, to condemn wrong and sustain righteousness. But the message of the True Witness reveals the fact that a terrible deception is upon our people, which makes it NECESSARY to come to them with warnings, to break their spiritual slumber, and arouse them to decided action.
In my last vision, I was shown that even this decided message of the True Witness had not accomplished the design of God. The people slumber on in their sins. They continue to declare themselves rich and having NEED of nothing. Many inquire: Why are all these reproofs given? Why do the Testimonies continually charge us with backsliding and with grievous sins? We love the TRUTH; we are prospering; we are in no NEED of these Testimonies of warning and reproof. But let these murmurers see their hearts and compare their lives with the practical teachings of the Bible, let them humble their souls before God, let the GRACE of God illuminate the darkness [i.e., and/or illuminate the ‘heathenism,’ because the term, ‘darkness,’ is synonymous with the term, ‘heathenism,’ particularly the ‘heathenism’ of ‘heathen,’ ‘worse than dead,’ Satan-aiding or enemy-aiding or ‘lukewarm Laodiceans,’ who are also by God’s definition ‘fraudulent’ or ‘not genuine’ ‘Christians,’ as plainly revealed in the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God in 4T 87:2; 7BC 970:1:7, or Letter 121, 1903; AA 248:4-249:1; and ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50:1:4], and the scales will fall from their eyes, and they will realize their TRUE spiritual poverty and wretchedness. They will feel the NECESSITY of buying gold, which is pure faith and love; white raiment, which is a spotless character made pure in the blood of their dear Redeemer; and eyesalve, which is the GRACE of God and which will give clear discernment of spiritual things and detect sin. These attainments are more precious than the gold of Ophir.

I have been shown that the greatest reason why the people of God [i.e., why the professed people of God] are now found in this state of spiritual blindness is that they will not receive correction. Many have despised the reproofs and warnings given them. The True Witness condemns the lukewarm condition of the people of God [i.e., and/or the ‘True Witness condemns the ‘aiding the enemy’ ‘condition,’ or the Satan-aiding ‘condition’ of the professed people of God, as we have already seen from 4T 87:2 and 3T 255:1], which gives Satan great power over them in this waiting, watching time [i.e., and/or which gives Satan great heathen, or bewitching, and murderous influence, control, hold, counterfeit latter rain, spirit, and/or power over them in this waiting, watching time, and which thus leads them to make ‘murder,’ or make a ‘spirit of hatred’ against open sins or open wrongs being reproved among them, or make ‘abortion,’ or make the ‘murder’ of unborn ‘babes,’ or make the historically ‘heathen’ practice of engaging in ‘human sacrifices’ to ‘fire’ even to the lake which burneth with ‘fire’ and brimstone rather that repent of their open ‘idolatry, or make the ‘violation of the sixth commandment a part of their religion,’ as plainly revealed by the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God in 1 Chronicles 16:35; ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50:1:4; Psalms 115;2-8; 135:15-18; 1 Chronicles 16:16; Matthew 15:9; PP 305:4-306:1; Revelation 21:7-10, 27; 21:14-15; 7BC 962:2:1, or letter 66, 1894; 4T 87:2; 6BC 1106:1:2, or RH August 25, 1885; 3T 255:1; PP 337:2-3; ST May 6, 1880, or 1ST 154; Romans 1:21-29, 30-32; Exodus 20:13; PP 308:5-6; 3T 252:1, 266:2; Exodus 20:13; SA 100-101; and much more]. . . .
Ministers who are preaching PRESENT TRUTH should not neglect the solemn message to the Laodiceans. The Testimony of the True Witness is not a smooth message. The Lord does not say to them, You are about right; you have borne chastisement and reproof that you never deserved; you have been unnecessarily discouraged by severity; you are not guilty of the wrongs and sins for which you have been reproved. . . .
. . . . But if the sins of the people are passed over by those in responsible positions, His frown will be upon them, and the people of God, as a body, will be held responsible for those sins. In His dealings with His people in the past, the Lord shows the NECESSITY of purifying the church from wrongs. One sinner may diffuse darkness [i.e., thus, please see below] that will exclude the light of God from the entire congregation." --- 3T 253:3-255:1, 257:3, 265:2, "The Laodicean Church," written in 1873.         "Many are Laodiceans, living in a spiritual self-deception. They clothe themselves in the garments of their own righteousness, imagining themselves to be rich and increased with goods and in NEED of nothing, when they NEED daily to learn of Jesus, His meekness and lowliness, else they find themselves bankrupt, their whole life being a lie [i.e., and/or their whole life being a false witness, or darkness, or a fraud, or a falsehood grossly deceiving, or the hidden things of dishonesty, or the falsehood of idolatry, or spiritualism, or heathenism, or Laodiceanism against their neighbor; and/or their whole life being will-worship, or gods or idols worship, or heathenism, or spiritualism, or witchcraft and demon worship, or Satan worship, or part of Satan’s on-going, later times, counterfeit revival of heathenism and of much more; and/or their whole life being the spiritualistic, heathen, worse than dead, will-worshiping, gods or idols worshiping, witchcraft and demon worshiping, Satan worshiping, Satan-aiding or lukewarm, Laodicean, and lying rank of the heathen or lying synagogue of Satan, just as we have already seen from the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God]." --- 7BC 962:2:1, "Bankrupt!;" or Letter 66, 1894. Bracketed note supplied.

"I wish to plead with our brethren who shall assemble at the General Conference to heed the message given to the Laodiceans. What a condition of blindness is theirs! This subject has been brought to your notice again and again, but your dissatisfaction with your spiritual condition has not been deep and painful enough to work reform. 'Thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have NEED of nothing; and knowest not [i.e., this 'knowest not' condition is a 'willfully ignorant' condition, as seen in 7BC 963; or MS 138, 1902] that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked. ' [Revelation 3:17.] The guilt of self-deception is upon our churches. The religious life of many is a lie [i.e., and/or the religious life of many is a false witness, or darkness, or a fraud, or a falsehood grossly deceiving, or the hidden things of dishonesty, or the falsehood of idolatry, or spiritualism, or heathenism, or Laodiceanism against their neighbor; and/or the religious life of many is will-worship, or gods or idols worship, or heathenism, or spiritualism, or witchcraft and demon worship, or Satan worship, or part of Satan’s on-going, later times, counterfeit revival of heathenism and of much more; and/or the religious life of many is the spiritualistic, heathen, worse than dead, will-worshiping, gods or idols worshiping, witchcraft and demon worshiping, Satan worshiping, Satan-aiding or lukewarm, Laodicean, and lying rank of the heathen or lying synagogue of Satan, just as we have already seen from the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God] . . .

But why is it that those who claim to believe the TRUTH are not doers of the Word? Why is so little said upon these subjects which mean so much to every church and to every individual member? Think you that Heaven does not look with amazement upon those who profess to be children of God, yet who pass on inattentive, careless, disregarding the plainest Words of TRUTH enjoined upon them? Is it not time for us to consider that we must live by every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God?
There are many in the ministry who have no love for God or for their fellow men. They are asleep; and, while they sleep, Satan [i.e., the enemy] is sowing his tares. The flock of God is in NEED of help from Heaven, and the sheep and lambs are perishing for food. But let those who would have a deep and living experience in the things of God cease to depend upon men, even upon their own pastors and teachers, and put their trust wholly in God, using their God-given ability to His glory [i.e., and/or to His honor]. Christ is to be lifted up before the people; for by beholding Him we are to become changed to His image. Jesus says, ‘Without Me ye can do nothing.’ [John 15:5.] He has made ample atonement, and he who lays hold upon Christ by faith has peace with God. The Holy Spirit purifies the heart, presenting God in new and enduring views as our Heavenly Father.
Oh, that evil may be turned out of our hearts! Oh, that the soul may be thoroughly cleansed! Oh, that the love of God may abide in the soul as a living principle! Cultivate love for Jesus, love for those who believe in Him, and love for the wandering and perishing. We must have the love which is of Heavenly birth, and nourish it as a Heavenly plant. Stubbornness, which prevails to a fearful extent, must be broken up. . . .
Will the people of God heed the Voice of warning, and cultivate love? Will they lay aside their suspicions and jealousies? They cannot do this unless they fall all broken before God. Many have made, and are still making, great blunders. They love their own way [i.e., please see that this loving their ‘own way’ is exactly the same thing as the ‘worship of their ideas of opinion,’ as seen in the second Heaven-sent quote below] so well that they will not surrender to God's way. Many have been convinced that they have grieved the Spirit of God by their resistance of light, but they hated to die to self [i.e., thus, this is the ‘self-worship’ of the ‘Laodicean church’ or of the ‘enemy’ ‘aiding’ ‘lukewarm,’ as may be seen in 20MR 90-91, or Letter 264, 1903; 7BC 962:2:2, or MS 61, 1898; and 4T 87:2 - - therefore, beware of impenitent, openly heathen, worse than dead, Satan-aiding or lukewarm Laodiceans in a professing Christian guise and in a professing Seventh-day Adventist, because they predictably ever bear false witness regarding their many, many, many forms of false worship], and deferred to do the work of humbling their hearts and confessing their sins. They would not acknowledge that the reproof was sent of God, or the instruction was from Heaven, until every shadow of uncertainty was removed. They did not walk out into the light. They hoped to get out of difficulty in some easier way than by confession of sin, and Satan [i.e., the enemy] has kept hold of them, and tempted them, and they have had but feeble strength to resist him.
Evidence has been piled upon evidence, but they have been unwilling to acknowledge it. By their stubborn attitude they have revealed the soul malady [i.e., soul disease] that was upon them, for no evidence could satisfy them. Doubt, unbelief, prejudice, and stubbornness, killed all love from their souls. They demanded perfect assurance, but this is not compatible with faith. Faith rests not on certainty, but upon evidence. Demonstration is not faith." --- 16MR 108, 110-112, "The Need for Love in the Church, and An Appeal to Heed the Message to the Laodiceans;" or Letter 19d, 1892. Bracketed notes supplied.

"During the meetings at Orebro I was urged by the Spirit of the Lord to present His law as the great standard of righteousness and to warn our people against the modern, counterfeit sanctification which has its origin in will-worship [i.e., thus, please remember ‘unwilling,’ discussed above, and see the ‘will’ discussed below] rather than in submission to the will of God." --- FW 51:1, "A Warning Against Counterfeit Sanctification," or RH October 5, 1886. Bracketed note supplied.

"‘The Lord has seen our backslidings, and He has a controversy with His people.Their pride, selfishness, their opening of the mind to doubt and unbelief, are manifest in His sight and grieve His heart of love. Many gather darkness [i.e., and/or thus many gather ‘heathenism,’ as seen in 7BC 970:1:7, or Letter 121, 1903; AA 248:4-249:1; and ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50:1:4] about their souls as a garment, and virtually say, We want not a knowledge of Thy way, O God; we choose our own way [i.e., thus, also, remember the second quote above, and see that this choosing or loving their ‘own way,’ but not God’s way, amounts to the ‘worship of their ideas of opinion,’ as seen later below in this same quote]. These are the things which separate the soul from God. There is in the soul of man an obstacle which he holds there with stubborn persistency, and which interposes between his soul and God. It is unbelief. God gives sufficient evidence, but man [i.e., to include heathen and Laodicean man in a professing Christian guise and in a professing Seventh-day Adventist guise] with his unsanctified will [i.e., thus, remember ‘will-worship’ from FW 51:1] refuses to receive evidence unless it comes in his own way, to favor his own ideas. With a spirit of bravado he cries,Proof, proof, is what we want,’ and turns away from the evidence that God gives. He talks doubt, unbelief, sowing the seeds of evil, which will spring up and yield their harvest. He is separating his soul farther and farther from God.
Why is it that men do not believe upon sufficient evidence - because they do not want to be convinced. They have no disposition to give up their own will for God's will [i.e., thus, again, please remember ‘will-worship’ from FW 51:1]. They are [not] willing to acknowledge that they have cherished sinful unbelief in resisting the light of God has given them. They have been hunting for doubts, for pegs upon which to hang their unbelief. They have been willing to accept testimony which is weak and insufficient, testimony which God has not given them in His Word, but which pleases them because it agrees with their ideas and is in harmony with their disposition and will. These souls are in great peril. If they will bow their proud wills and put it on God's side of the question, if they will, with humble, contrite hearts, seek for light, believing that there is light for them, then they will see the light because the eye is single to discern the light which comes from God. They will acknowledge the evidence of divine authority. Spiritual TRUTHS will shine forth from the divine page. But the heart must be open for the reception of light, for Satan [i.e., the enemy] is ever ready to obscure the precious TRUTH which would make them wise unto salvation. If any do not receive it, it will forever remain a mystery of mysteries to them.
We should earnestly seek to know and appreciate the TRUTH, that we may present it to others as it is in Jesus. We NEED to have a correct estimate of the value of our own souls; then we would not be as reckless in regard to our course of action as at present. We would seek most earnestly to know God's way; and we would work in an opposite direction from selfishness, and our constant prayer would be that we might have the mind of Christ, that we might be molded and fashioned after His likeness. It is in looking to Jesus and beholding His loveliness, having our eyes steadfastly fixed upon Him, that we become changed into his image. He will give GRACE to all who keep His way and do His will [i.e., thus, again, please remember people are either in ‘submission’ to the ‘will of God;’ or, else, they are in ‘will-worship’ like the will-worshiping, worldly, ‘heathen,’ ‘worse than dead,’ Satan-aiding or enemy aiding or ‘lukewarm Laodiceans,’ as we have seen in FW 51:1; in 7BC 959:2:1, or RH August 20, 1901; in 4T 87:2; and in ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50 :1:4] and walk in TRUTH. But those who love their own way, who worship their ideas of opinion and do not love God [i.e., thus, see the first and third Heaven-sent quotes below] and obey His word, will continue to walk in darkness [i.e., and/or will continue to walk in ‘heathenism’ and/or in open ‘idolatry,’ as the ‘vain’ worshiping, impenitent, openly idolatrous, openly ‘heathen,’ ‘worse than dead,’ Satan-aiding or ‘lukewarm Laodiceans,’ who ‘dishonor God far more than the avowed unbeliever,’ who ‘attempt to represent the Eternal One by material objects’ or by forbidden images and likenesses, and who will thus ‘meet with bitter disappointment in the day of God,’ as plainly seen in 7BC 970:1:2, or Letter 164, 1909; 4T 87:2; 7BC 970:1:7, or Letter 121, 1903; AA 248:4-249:1; ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50; Psalms 115:2-8; 135:15-18; 1 Chronicles 16:26; Matthew 15:9; PP 305:4-306:1, 336:2; and Revelation 22:14-15]. Oh, how terrible is unbelief! As well let light be poured upon the blind as to present TRUTH to these souls; the one cannot see; the other will not see.
. . . . Mercy and TRUTH and the love of God are promised to the contrite soul. The displeasure and Judgments of God are against those who persist in walking in their own ways, loving self [i.e., please see the ‘love of self’ and thus see ‘self-worship’ and the ‘love of Christ,’ and see more discussed in the next three Heaven-sent quotes below], loving the praise of men. They will certainly be swept into the Satanic delusions [i.e., thus, we will discuss just such a ‘Satanic delusion’ more exactly and precisely a little later in this study from ST May 19, 1881, or 1ST 227:3:2] because they receive not the love of the TRUTH. Because the Lord has in former days blessed the honored them, they flatter that they are chosen and TRUE, and do not NEED warning, instruction, and reproof. The True Witness says, ‘As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten; be zealous therefore and repent!’ [Revelation 3:19.] The professed people of God have the charge against them. ‘Nevertheless, I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou hast fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of its place [i.e., out of His place], unless thou repent.’ [Revelation 2:4-5.]." --- PC 337-339, "Camp Meeting Appeal," written on August 1, 1891.         "Love of self excludes [i.e., rejects; refuses to admit] the love of Christ. Those who live for self are ranged under the head of the Laodicean church who are lukewarm [i.e., who are aiding Satan or ‘aiding the enemy,’ which is exactly what the term, ‘lukewarm,’ in reality means, just as we have already seen from the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God in 4T 87:2], neither cold nor hot. The ardor of the first love has lapsed into a selfish egotism. The love of Christ in the heart is expressed in the actions. If love for Christ is dull, the love for those for whom Christ has died will degenerate. There may be a wonderful appearance for zeal and ceremonies, but this is the substance of their self-inflated religion. Christ represents them as nauseating to His taste. [Revelation 3:17-18 quoted.]. . . .
The great mass of professing Christians will meet with bitter disappointment in the day of God. They have not upon their foreheads the seal of the living God. Lukewarm and halfhearted, they dishonor God far more than the avowed unbeliever. They grope in darkness [i.e., thus, please see this ‘darkness’ of ‘heathenism’ discussed below] . . . ." --- 7BC 962:2:2, or MS 61. 1898; and 7BC 970:1:7, or Letter 121, 1903.         "It is essential to our eternal well-being to know more of God; for love to God depends on a conception of His goodness. His excellence, and a knowledge of His will. It requires an appreciation of His character. His law is the transcript of His character, and this law He calls upon us to obey. . .
God can be no power to lukewarm Laodiceans." --- ST August 2, 1899, "The Two Great Principles of the Law;" or 4ST 49, 50. Bracketed notes supplied.

"Many are Laodiceans, living in a spiritual self-deception. They clothe themselves in the garments of their own righteousness, imagining themselves to be rich and increased with goods and in NEED of nothing, when they NEED daily to learn of Jesus, His meekness and lowliness, else they find themselves bankrupt, their whole life being a lie [i.e., and/or their whole life being a false witness, or darkness, or a fraud, or a falsehood grossly deceiving, or the hidden things of dishonesty, or the falsehood of idolatry, or spiritualism, or heathenism, or Laodiceanism against their neighbor; and/or their whole life being will-worship, or gods or idols worship, or heathenism, or spiritualism, or witchcraft and demon worship, or Satan worship, or part of Satan’s on-going, later times, counterfeit revival of heathenism and of much more; and/or their whole life being the spiritualistic, heathen, worse than dead, will-worshiping, worshiping their own ideas of opinion while predictably rejecting the Heaven-sent and plain Words of God, gods or idols worshiping, witchcraft and demon worshiping, Satan worshiping, Satan-aiding or lukewarm, Laodicean, and lying rank of the heathen or lying synagogue of Satan, just as we have already seen from the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God]." --- 7BC 962:2:1, "Bankrupt!;" or Letter 66, 1894.

'Thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have NEED of nothing; and knowest not [i.e., please remember that this 'knowest not' condition is a 'willfully ignorant' condition, as seen in 7BC 963; or MS 138, 1902] that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked. ' [Revelation 3:17.] The guilt of self-deception is upon our churches. The religious life of many is a lie [i.e., and/or the religious life of many is a false witness, or darkness, or a fraud, or a falsehood grossly deceiving, or the hidden things of dishonesty, or the falsehood of idolatry, or spiritualism, or heathenism, or Laodiceanism against their neighbor; and/or the religious life of many is will-worship, or gods or idols worship, or heathenism, or spiritualism, or witchcraft and demon worship, or Satan worship, or part of Satan’s on-going, later times, counterfeit revival of heathenism and of much more; and/or the religious life of many is the spiritualistic, heathen, worse than dead, will-worshiping, worshiping their own ideas of opinion while predictably rejecting the Heaven-sent and plain Words of God, gods or idols worshiping, witchcraft and demon worshiping, Satan worshiping, Satan-aiding or lukewarm, Laodicean, and lying rank of the heathen or lying synagogue of Satan, just as we have already seen from the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God] . .

Many have been convinced that they have grieved the Spirit of God by their resistance of light, but they hated to die to self [i.e., thus, again, this is the ‘self-worship’ of the ‘Laodicean church’ or of the Satan-aiding ‘lukewarm,’ as we have already seen in 20MR 90-91, or Letter 264, 1903; and in 7BC 962:2:2, or MS 61, 1898 - - therefore, again, please beware of the great mass of impenitent, lost, openly heathen, worse than dead, Satan-aiding or lukewarm Laodiceans in a professing Christian guise and in a professing Seventh-day Adventist, because they predictably ever bear false witness regarding their many, many, many forms of false worship, and because they have no shame -- absolutely none], and deferred to do the work of humbling their hearts and confessing their sins.

"God will not condemn any at the Judgment because they honestly believed a lie [i.e., and/or because they honestly believed in darkness; and/or because they honestly believed in the lying synagogue of Satan; and/or because they honestly believed in heathenism; and/or honestly believed in Laodiceanism], or conscientiously cherished error; but it will be because they neglected the opportunities of making themselves acquainted with TRUTH. The infidel [i.e., thus, please see the Babylonian church of ‘Rome’ whose ‘work’ results in making the ‘masses’ ‘heathen’ and ‘infidels;’ and, then, please see the Satan-aiding or lukewarm church of the ‘Laodiceans’ whose ‘work’ results in making a ‘great mass’ of ‘heathen’ and ‘worse than infidels,’ as plainly revealed in the next fourteen Heaven-sent quotes and more below] will be condemned, not because he was an infidel , but because he did not take advantage of the means God has placed within his reach to enable him to become a Christian." --- TM 437:2, "Why Condemned." Bracketed notes supplied.

"'Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? and what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel [i.e., please remember the ‘infidel’ discussed just above; and please see below]?' [2 Corinthians 6:14, 15.] What can there be in common between these parties? There can be no fellowship, no communion.

The word 'fellowship ' means participation, partnership. God employs the strongest figures to show that there should be no union between worldly parties and those who are seeking the righteousness of Christ. What communion can there be between light and darkness, TRUTH and unrighteousness? None whatever. Light represents righteousness; darkness, unrighteousness. Christians [i.e., not lost, fraudulently impenitent, openly ‘heathen,’ ‘worse than dead,’ ‘Satan’ ‘aiding’ or ‘lukewarm Laodiceans,’ who predictably receive Satan’s ‘arts and devices,’ ‘as from Heaven,’ who are thus involved in promoting, excusing, and cloaking over their ‘Satan’ ‘worship,’ and who are therefore obviously also ‘fraudulent’ or ‘not genuine’ ‘Christians,’ just as we have already plainly seen from the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God in ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50; 4T 87:2; and 1T 296:2-297:1; - - but, here inspiration is speaking of the fact that humble and genuinely penitent Christians] have come out of darkness into the light. . . .
The question may be asked, Are we to have no union whatever with the world? The Word of the Lord is to be our guide. Any connection with infidels [i.e., thus, please remember ‘infidel’ and infidels’ discussed in the present quote together with the previous Heaven-sent quote above; and please see below] and unbelievers that would identify us with them, is FORBIDDEN by the Word. We are to come out from among them, and be separate. In no case are we to link ourselves with them in their plans of work. But we are not to live reclusive lives. We are to do worldlings all the good we possibly can." --- 1915 GW 392:3-393:1, 394:2, "Our Attitude In Regard To Politics," "Be Ye Separate;" or MS June 16, 1899. Bracketed notes supplied.

"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? and what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel [i.e., thus, please remember 'infidel' and 'infidels,' as just discussed from TM 437:2, and from 1915 GW 392:3-393:1, 394:2, cited above, and please see below]?" --- 2 Corinthians 6:14-15. Bracketed note supplied.

"By working upon the jealousy of the kings and the ruling classes, Rome had influenced them to keep the people in bondage, well knowing that the state would thus be weakened, and purposing by this means to fasten both rulers and people in her thrall. With farsighted policy she perceived that in order to enslave men effectually, the shackles must be bound upon their souls; that the surest way to prevent them from escaping their bondage was to render them incapable of freedom. A thousandfold more terrible than the physical suffering which resulted from her policy, was the moral degradation. Deprived of the Bible, and abandoned to the teachings of bigotry and selfishness, the people were shrouded in ignorance and superstition, and sunken in vice, so that they were wholly unfitted for self -government.
But the outworking of all this was widely different from what Rome had purposed. Instead of holding the masses in a blind submission to her dogmas, her work resulted in making them infidels [i.e., thus, please remember 'infidels' discussed in the previous three Heaven-sent quotes above, and see those who are 'worse than infidels' plainly identified by the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God in the fourth and fifth Heaven-sent quotes and more below] . . . The only god [i.e., see below] they knew was the god of Rome; her teaching was their only religion." --- GC 281:2-3, "The Bible and the French Revolution," written in 1911. Bracketed notes supplied.

        "11 . . . . the gods . . . of the heathen . . . ." --- Zephaniah 2:11.

        ". . . . the falsehood [i.e., and/or the lie] of idolatry. " --- 1BC 1108:1:1; or MS 58, 1900. Bracketed note supplied.

"God will not condemn any at the Judgment because they honestly believed a lie [i.e., and/or because they believed the 'lie,' or the 'falsehood of idolatry,' or the ‘false paths’ of ‘infidels,’ as discussed in this present quote together with the six previous Heaven-sent quotes and more above], or conscientiously cherished error; but it will be because they neglected the opportunities of making themselves acquainted with TRUTH. The infidel [i.e., thus, please remember the idolatrous or 'heathen' 'infidel' and the 'heathen' 'infidels' of ‘Rome’ and their 'heathen' 'gods,' as discussed in the previous six Heaven-sent quotes above, and please see those who are actually 'worse than infidels,' as discussed in the next two Heaven-sent quotes and more below to the end of this letter] will be condemned, not because he was an infidel, but because he did not take advantage of the means God has placed within his reach to enable him to become a Christian." --- TM 437:2, "Elevate the Standard." Bracketed notes supplied.

"8 But if any provide not for his own , and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel [i.e., thus, please remember the idolatrous or 'heathen' infidel' and the 'heathen' 'infidels' of ‘Rome’ and their 'heathen' 'gods,' as discussed in the previous seven Heaven-sent quotes above, and please see the ‘Laodicean church’ of those who are actually 'worse than infidels,' as discussed in the very next Heaven-sent quote below]. " --- 1 Timothy 5:8. Bracketed notes supplied.

"Halfhearted Christians are worse than infidels; for their deceptive words and noncommittal position lead many astray. The infidel shows his colors. The lukewarm Christian deceives both parties. He is neither a good worldling nor a good Christian. Satan uses him to do a work that no one else can do.

There are those who, though professedly serving God, are witnessing against Him [i.e., thus, they are bearing ‘false witness’ or shamelessly transgressing God’s ninth commandment against Him]. To them the message to the Laodicean church is given. Christ says to them,I know thy works [i.e., thy spiritualistic or heathen, worse than dead, worse than infidels or halfhearted, vain worshiping, worshiping their own ideas of opinion while rejecting the Heaven-sent and plain Words of God, self-worshiping, will-worshiping or modern and counterfeit sanctification promoting, gods or idols worshiping, witchcraft and demon worshiping, Satan worshiping, Satan-aiding or lukewarm, Laodicean, merely professing Christian, and merely professing Seventh-day Adventist works], that thou art neither cold nor hot.’ [Revelation 3:15.] When the avenging angel shall pass through the land, Christ cannot say of them,Touch them not. I have graven them upon the palms of My hands.’ No; of these halfhearted ones He says [i.e., and/or no; of these halfhearted or worse than infidel ones He says], ‘I will spew them out of My mouth. [Revelation 3:16.] They are offensive to Me.’
To those who do not practice it, the Word of God is a dead letter. Christ says of such,I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm [i.e., and/or because thou art aiding Satan or ‘aiding the enemy,’ which is precisely what the often misused and wickedly down-played term, ‘lukewarm,’ in reality means, just as we have already seen from the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God in 4T 87:2], and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of My mouth.’ [Revelation 3:15b-16.] He cannot present their case to the Father. If they realized that they were sinners, He could plead in their behalf, and the Lord would arouse them by His Holy Spirit [i.e., by His power; by His true Latter Rain]. But they are worse than dead in trespasses and sins. They hear the Word, but make no application of it to themselves; instead, they apply the Word spoken to their neighbors. . . .
There is hope for our churches if they will heed the message given to the Laodiceans. . . .

The Israelites placed over their doors a signature of blood, to show that they were God's property. So, the children of God, in this age, will bear the signature God has appointed. They will place themselves in harmony with God's holy law. A mark [i.e., mark and/or seal of the living God] is placed upon every one of God's people just as verily as a mark was placed over the doors of the Hebrew dwellings, to preserve the people from the general ruin. God declares, ‘I gave them My Sabbaths, to be a sign between Me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them.’ [Ezekiel 20:12.]. . . .
. . . . In a little while, every one who is a child of God will have His seal placed upon him. O that it may be placed upon our foreheads! Who can endure the thought of being passed by when the angel goes forth to seal the servants of God in their foreheads?
Only those who receive the seal of the living God will have the passport through the gates of the Holy City. But there are many who take upon themselves responsibilities in connection with the work of God who are not wholehearted believers, and while they remain thus cannot receive the seal of the living God. They trust in their own righteousness [i.e., thus, please remember: 'many are Laodiceans, living in a spiritual self-deception,' and 'they clothe themselves in the garments of their own righteousness . . . their whole life being a lie,' and/or ‘their whole life being’ 'heathenism,' just as we have already seen earlier from the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God in 7BC 962:2:1; or Letter 66, 1894; and DA 540:3], which the Lord accounts as foolishness.

Those who would have the seal of God in their foreheads must keep the Sabbath of the fourth commandment. This is what distinguishes them from the disloyal, who have accepted a man-made institution in the place of the true Sabbath. The observance of God's rest day is the mark of distinction between him that serveth God and him that serveth Him not. . . .

Many will not receive the seal of God because they do not keep His commandments or bear the fruits of righteousness.
The great mass of professing Christians will meet with bitter disappointment in the day of God. They have not upon their foreheads the seal of the living God. Lukewarm and halfhearted, they dishonor God far more than the avowed unbeliever. They grope in darkness [i.e., thus, please see this ‘darkness;’ or see this ‘heathenism;’ or see this ‘lie;’ or, just one more time, see the openly ‘heathen,’ ‘worse than dead,’ ‘lukewarm Laodiceans,’ who sometimes come only 'half converted from paganism' or from 'heathenism,' and who are also understandably therefore further defined by God as being ‘fraudulent’ or ‘not genuine’ ‘Christians,’ as these matters and much more are discussed in the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God in the inspired quotes, just below, to the end] . . . .         "The message to the Laodicean church is applicable to our condition. How plainly is pictured the position of those who think they have all the TRUTH, who take pride in their knowledge of the Word of God, while its sanctifying power has not been felt in their lives.

The True Witness says of a cold, lifeless, Christless church [i.e., thus, see also UL 315; or Letter 108, October 28, 1886],I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of My mouth’ (Revelation 3:15, 16). . . Wickedness and rebellion, violence and crime, are filling the world [i.e., thus, please see ‘the world,’ and/or the ‘mark of the beast,’ and/or ‘the church of the Laodiceans,’ and more discussed in the next two Heaven-sent quotes below]. The cries of the suffering and the oppressed rise to God for Justice. In the place of being softened by the patience and forbearance of God, the wicked are growing stronger in stubborn rebellion [i.e., thus, please remember ‘rebellion;’ the ‘sin of witchcraft’ or heathenism, or open idolatry; ‘the ‘Laodicean church;’ and/or the openly murderous or human being sacrificing, openly idolatrous, ‘heathen,’ ‘worse than dead,’ Satan-aiding or ’lukewarm Laodiceans,’ and more discussed in the previous six Heaven-sent quotes above]. The time in which we live is one of marked depravity. Religious restraint is thrown off, and men reject the law of God as unworthy of their attention.         "The message to the church of the Laodiceans applies especially to the people of God today [i.e., to the professed people of God today]. The ardor of the first love has lapsed into a selfish egotism. The love of Christ in the heart is expressed in the actions. If love for Christ is dull, the love for those for whom Christ has died will degenerate.         "Satan [i.e., the enemy] is continually seeking to overcome the people of God by breaking down the barriers which separate them from the world. Ancient Israel were enticed into sin when they ventured into FORBIDDEN association with the heathen [i.e., please see the ‘heathen,’ ‘worse than dead,’ openly idolatrous, openly Sabbath-polluting, ‘vain’ worshiping, ‘gods’ or ‘idols’ worshiping, ‘god of this world’ worshiping, ‘Satan’ worshiping, Satan-aiding or ‘lukewarm Laodiceans’ expressly identified, literally made visible, and discussed in the three Heaven sent quotations cited below to the end of this study]. In a similar manner, are modern Israel led astray. The god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.’ [2 Corinthians 4:4.] All who are not decided followers of Christ are servants of Satan [i.e., servants of the enemy]. In the unregenerate heart, there is love of sin, and a disposition to cherish and excuse it. In the renewed heart, there is hatred of sin, and determined resistance against it. When Christians choose the society of the ungodly and unbelieving, they expose themselves to temptation. Satan [i.e., the enemy; the god of this world and of heathenism] conceals himself from view, and stealthily draws his bandage across their eyes. They cannot see that such company is calculated to do them harm; and, while all the time assimilating to the world in character, words, and actions, they are becoming more and more blinded. Familiarity with sin inevitably causes it to appear less repulsive. He who chooses to associate with the servants of Satan [i.e., and/or associate with the servants of the god of this world or of heathenism; and/or associate with the servants of the enemy] soon ceases to fear their master." --- 4SP 327:3-328:1, "Enmity Between Man and Satan," written in 1884. The life which Christ alone can give is given upon condition of obedience, an obedience which takes in the whole man,--mind, heart, soul, and strength. This is true sanctification. ‘This do, and thou shalt live,’ is the only genuine definition of sanctification. [Luke 10:18.]. . . .

"Like attracts like. Like appreciates like." --- 5T 705:3, "The Mysteries of the Bible a Proof of its Inspiration," written in 1889.

"Nearly all forms of ancient sorcery and witchcraft were founded upon a belief in communion with the dead. . . .

This same belief in communion with the dead formed [i.e., and still forms] the cornerstone of heathen idolatry. . . Thus, the religion of the heathen was [i.e., and still is] a worship of the dead. . . .

The deification of the dead has held a prominent place in nearly every system of heathenism, as has also the supposed communion with the dead. . . .

The belief in communion with the dead [i.e., and/or in the visible and false lord’s supper] is still held, even in professedly Christian lands. Under the name of spiritualism [i.e., thus, please remember that spiritualism is simply the same thing as heathenism, and/or spiritualism is simply a modernized form of ancient heathenism, as we have already seen in ST May 9, 1906, or 4ST 420] . . . ." --- PP 684, "Ancient and Modern Sorcery," written in 1890.         "6 And I saw another angel [i.e., the first angel of Revelation 14] fly in the midst of Heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to Him [i.e., give honor to Him]; for the hour of His Judgment is come: and worship Him [i.e., see below] that made Heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters." --- Revelation 14:6-7.         "23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the TRUE worshippers shall worship the Father in Spirit and in TRUTH: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in TRUTH." --- John 4:23-24.

"In order to serve Him aright, we must be born of the divine Spirit. This will purify the heart and renew the mind, giving us a new capacity for knowing and loving God. It will give us a willing obedience to all His requirements. This is TRUE worship." --- DA 189:3, "At Jacob’s Well," written in 1898.

"14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. 15 I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say." --- 1 Corinthians 10:14-15.

"10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." --- James 2:10.

"‘Thou shalt have [i.e., follow; be like; be occupied with; like; use; require; cause to be made; worship; and/or have] no other gods before Me.’ [Exodus 20:3.].
Jehovah, the eternal, self-existent, uncreated One, Himself the Source and Sustainer of all, is alone entitled to supreme reverence and worship [i.e., true worship]. Man is FORBIDDEN to give to any other object the first place in his affections or his service. Whatever we cherish that tends to lessen our love for God or to interfere with the service due Him, of that do we make a god.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them.’ [Exodus 20:4-5a.].
The second commandment FORBIDS the worship [i.e., and/or the second commandment forbids the vain worship; the self-worship; the will-worship; the worship of their own ideas of opinion; the witchcraft and demon worship; the gods or idols worship; the worship of the dead; the god of this world worship; the Satan worship; and, therefore, the worship of they know not what of the impenitent, lost, great mass of openly idolatrous or openly heathen, worse than dead, worse than infidel, Satan-aiding or lukewarm Laodiceans and/or of the openly idolatrous or openly heathen church of the Laodiceans, just as we have already seen these various forms of false worship clearly defined earlier and justly applied to heathen Laodiceans directly from the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God] of the true God by images or similitudes. Many heathen nations [i.e., to include: ‘heathen’ ‘Laodiceans,’ as we have already seen in ST August 2, 1899; or 4ST 50:1:4] claimed that their images were mere figures or symbols by which the Deity was worshiped, but God has declared such worship [i.e., such false worship] to be sin. The attempt to represent the Eternal One by material objects would lower man's conception of God. The mind, turned away from the infinite perfection of Jehovah, would be attracted to the creature rather than to the Creator. And as his conceptions of God were lowered, so would man become degraded. . . .

By causing men to violate the second commandment, Satan aimed to degrade their conceptions of the Divine Being. By setting aside the fourth, he would cause them to forget God altogether. God's claim to reverence and worship [i.e., true worship], above the gods of the heathen, is based upon the fact that He is the Creator, and that to Him all other beings owe their existence. . . Had the Sabbath [i.e., please see below] always been SACREDLY observed, there could never have been an atheist or an idolater [i.e., and/or had the Sabbath always been sacredly observed there could never have been an atheist or an openly Sabbath-polluting, openly idolatrous, openly heathen, worse than dead, worse than infidel, Satan worshiping, Satan-aiding or lukewarm Laodicean in both a professing Christian guise and in a professing Seventh-day Adventist guise - - as we have seen, or as we shall soon see below to the end of this study]." --- PP 305:4-306:1, 336:2, "The Law Given to Israel," "Satan's Enmity Against the Law," written in 1890. Bracketed notes supplied.

"15 Yet also I lifted up My hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands; 16 Because they despised My Judgments, and walked not in My statutes, but polluted My Sabbaths [i.e., please see below]: for their heart went after their idols [i.e., and/or polluted My Sabbaths: for their heart went after their gods; and/or polluted My Sabbaths: for their heart went after their prohibited images idolatrously made to represent Jehovah; and/or polluted My Sabbaths: for their heart went after their prohibited similitudes or material representations of God; and/or polluted My Sabbaths: for their heart went after their prohibited similitudes or images made from dead, corrupt, finite, visible, and material objects and thus dishonorably and idolatrously made to represent the only living, uncorruptible, infinite, and invisible God]. " --- Ezekiel 20:15-16. Bracketed note supplied.

"Then, I was shown a company who were howling in agony. On their garments was written in large characters, ‘Thou art weighed in the balance, and found wanting.’ [Daniel 5:27.] I asked who this company were. The angel said, ‘these are they who have once kept the Sabbath and have given it up.’ I heard them cry with a loud voice--‘we have believed in Thy coming, and taught it with energy.’ And while they were speaking, their eyes would fall upon their garments and see the writing, and then they would wail aloud. I saw they had drunk of the deep waters, and fouled the residue with their feet--trodden the Sabbath [i.e., please see below] underfoot, and that is why they were weighed in the balance and found wanting. [Daniel 5:27.]." --- EW 37:1, "Experience and Views," written in 1882; and, thus, part of the great "light of 1882" by which "the church" will be "found wanting" by God, as clearly explained and forewarned by God in Daniel 3:18; 5:4, 23-27; in 5T 83:3-84:1, 217:2, written in 1882 [i.e., see 2 Timothy 3:1-8, written in the autumn of A.D. 66; 4SP 337:1-339:3, written in 1884; ST November 7, 1895, or 3ST 251; ST December 5, 1895, or 3ST 257; ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50:1:3-4; Ezekiel 20:17; Exodus 12:12; 1 Chronicles 16:26; PP 336:2; Matthew 15:9; PP 305:4-306:1]; in 8T 247:2, 249:2-250:1, written in 1903; and in Revelation 3:14-19; 21:7-10, 27; 22:14-15.         "Anything that diverts the mind from God [i.e., therefore, what diverts the mind from God - - please see the next Heaven-sent quote below] assumes the form of an idol [i.e., please remember the previous four Heaven-sent quotes above], and that is why there is so little power in the church today.         "In view of all that God had done for them, Joshua exhorted the people, ‘Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve Him in sincerity and in TRUTH; and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt [i.e., and/or in open heathenism; and/or, today, in the openly Egypt-like or openly heathen church of the Laodiceans, as plainly seen in Daniel 3:18; 5:4, 23-27; 5T 83:3-84:1, 217:2, written in 1882; Exodus 12:12; Ezekiel 20:7; Psalms 135:15; ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50:1:4; Zephaniah 2:11; 1 Chronicles 16:26; Matthew 15:9; PP 305:4-306:1, 336:2; 8T 247:2, 249:2-250:1; and Revelation 3:14-19; 21:7-10, 27; 22:14-15]; and serve ye the Lord.’ [Joshua 24:14.] The human mind is naturally inclined to dwell upon the things which are seen and heard, and to neglect the things which are unseen. The Lord had done marvelous things for His people in the manifesting of His power as the only TRUE and living God; yet many had been led astray by the Satanic delusion [i.e., remember 1T 296:2-297:1] that God might be represented by material objects, the works of men's hands. By the contemplation of these things, their minds were diverted from God [i.e., please remember the previous quote above]. . . .
Our dangers are similar to those which threatened the prosperity of ancient Israel. The oft-repeated warnings against idolatry addressed to the Hebrew host, are no less applicable to us. . . .
The Lord our God is a jealous God. He is Just and holy. He will not be trifled with. He reads a deceptive heart. He abhors a double mind. He hates lukewarmness [i.e., please see below]." --- ST May 19, 1881, "Joshua's Farewell Address;" or 1ST 227, 228. Bracketed notes supplied.

It serves his purpose well if we neglect the exercise of prayer, for then his lying wonders are more readily received. . . His arts and devices [i.e., thus, please see again, just below, the ‘Satanic delusion’ that is obviously one of Satan’s ‘arts and devices’] are received as from Heaven, and faith in the detector, the Bible, is destroyed in the minds of thousands. Satan here receives the worship which suits his Satanic majesty. Thousands are conversing with, and receiving instructions from, this demon-god and acting according to his teachings." --- 1T 296:2-297:1, "Philosophy and Vain Deceit," written in 1862.         "26 . . . . all the gods of the people are idols . . . ." --- 1 Chronicles 16:26.

"Satan [i.e., the enemy] was determined to keep his hold on the land of Canaan, and when it was made the habitation of the children of Israel, and the law of God was made the law of the land, he hated Israel with a cruel and malignant hatred and plotted their destruction. Through the agency of evil spirits strange gods were introduced [i.e., and/or idols were introduced; and/or prohibited images idolatrously made to represent Jehovah were introduced; and/or prohibited similitudes or material representations of God were introduced; and/or prohibited similitudes or images made from dead, corrupt, finite, visible, and material objects and thus dishonorably, spiritualisticly, heathenishly, and idolatrously made to represent the only living, uncorruptible, infinite, and invisible God were introduced; and/or vain worship, self-worship, will-worship or modern and counterfeit sanctification, the worship of their own ideas of opinion, the worship of the dead, and, therefore, the worship of they know not what was introduced; and/or Sabbath-polluting with idols, or with gods, or with prohibited images or similitudes made to supposedly represent the only living, uncorruptible, infinite, and invisible God and thus dishonorably, spiritualisticly, heathenishly, and idolatrously made from dead, corrupt, finite, visible, and material objects was introduced; and/or Sabbath-polluting with the Satanic delusion that God might be represented by material objects, the works of men's hands, was introduced; and/or Sabbath-polluting with disguised Satan worship, with disguised witchcraft and demon worship, with disguised gods or idols worship, and/or with the disguised god of this world worship was introduced; and/or the openly visible abominations of heathenism in a professing religious guise was introduced - - just exactly as we have already plainly seen from the sure and salvation-related Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God]; and because of transgression, the chosen people were finally scattered from the Land of Promise. This history Satan [i.e., the enemy] is striving to repeat in our day. God is leading His people out from the abominations of the world, that they may keep His law; and because of this, the rage of ‘the accuser of our brethrenknows no bounds. ‘The devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.’ Revelation 12:10, 12. The antitypical land of promise is just before us, and Satan [i.e., the enemy] is determined to destroy the people of God and cut them off from their inheritance. The admonition, ‘Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation’ (Mark 14:38), was never more NEEDED than now." --- PP 688-689, "Ancient and Modern Sorcery," written in 1890.         ". . . . punishment will be proportionate to . . . guilt. " --- KC 106, written on January 22, 1900.

"Justice requires that man shall have light, and it also requires that he who refuses to walk in this Heaven-sent light, the giving of which cost the death of the Son of God, shall receive punishment. It is a principle of Justice that the guilt of the sinner is proportionate to the knowledge given him, but not used, or used in a wrong way [i.e., thus, please see this ‘broad’ ‘way,’ and, in direct contrast, the ‘narrow’ ‘way’ and more discussed in the next two quotes below]." --- ST May 27, 1903, "Man’s Responsibility;" or 4ST 291. Bracketed note supplied.

"13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." --- Matthew 7:13-14.

"At the Conference at Battle Creek, May 27, 1856, I was shown in vision some things that concern the church generally [i.e., and/or that concern the Laodicean church generally, and/or that concern the professed Seventh-day Adventist church generally]. The glory and Majesty of God were made to pass before me. Said the angel: ‘He is terrible in His Majesty, yet ye realize it not; terrible in His anger, yet ye offend Him daily. 'Strive to enter in at the strait gate;' 'for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.'’ [Luke 13:24; Matthew 7:13-14.] These roads are distinct, separate, in opposite directions. One leads to eternal life, the other to eternal death. I saw the distinction between these roads, also the distinction between the companies traveling them. The roads are opposite; one is broad and smooth, the other narrow and rugged. So the parties that travel them are opposite in character, in life, in dress, and in conversation.
Those who travel in the narrow way are talking of the joy and happiness they will have at the end of the journey. Their countenances are often sad, yet often beam with holy, sacred joy. They do not dress like the company in the broad road, nor talk like them, nor act like them. A pattern has been given them. A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief opened that road for them, and traveled it Himself. His followers see His footsteps, and are comforted and cheered. He went through safely; so can they, if they follow in His footsteps.
In the broad road, all are occupied with their persons, their dress, and the pleasures in the way. They indulge freely in hilarity and glee, and think not of their journey's end, of the certain destruction at the end of the path. Every day, they approach nearer their destruction; yet they madly rush on faster and faster. Oh, how dreadful this looked to me!
I saw many traveling in this broad road who had the words written upon them:Dead to the world.’ ‘The end of all things is at hand. ’ [1 Peter 4:7.] ‘Be ye also ready.’ [Matthew 24:44.] They looked just like all the vain ones around them [i.e., remember: such impenitent and ‘vain ones’ on the broad road are those who foolishly refuse to genuinely repent and who are ‘vain’ or who have an excessively high regard for ‘self;’ and, thus, they are ‘living in a spiritual self-deception’ concerning many subjects to include the subject of worship; and, therefore, also, please remember, such ‘vain ones’ or such ‘Laodiceans’ are ‘living in a spiritual self-deception, ‘love’ ‘self,’ ‘live for self’ and are ranged ‘under’ the ‘head’ of the ‘Laodicean church,’ who are ‘lukewarm;’ who are in a ‘selfish egotism;’ who are in a ‘self-inflated religion;’ who speak ‘great swelling words of vanity,’ who thus manifest ‘thoughts’ and ‘actions’ that are controlled by hypnotic or beguiling ‘self-exaltation,’ or by open heathenism, or by open idolatry; who are thus in ‘self-worship;’ and who are therefore also defined by God as the openly sinning, impenitent, lost, ‘great mass’ of ‘vain’ worshiping, openly Sabbath-polluting, openly idolatrous, openly ‘heathen,’ ‘worse than dead,’ worse than infidels,’ ‘lukewarm Laodiceans’ who are ‘aiding the enemy’ or aiding Satan, the god of heathenism - - both right now and even still ‘in the day of God,’ just as we have already seen in John 14:15; 20MR 91, or Letter 264, 1903; 7BC 962:2:1, or Letter 66, 1894; 7BC 963:2:4-5, or Letter 44, 1903; 7BC 970:1:7, or Letter 121, 1903; 7BC 962:2:2, or MS 61, 1898; 4T 87:2; 7BC 962:2:3-4, or RH September 25, 1900; Obadiah 1:3-4, 15-16; ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50:1:4; Psalms 115:2-8; 135:15-18; 1 Chronicles 16:26; Matthew 15:9; PP 305:4-306:1, 336:2; Ezekiel 20:15-16; SD 57, or MS 2, 1893; ST May 19, 1881, or 1ST 227:3:2; SD 57, or MS 2, 1893; 1 Chronicles 16:26; PP 688:4-689:1; 4T 87:2; 5T 160:3; 1T 127:1-129:2, 608:4-609:3; Revelation 21:7-10, 27; 22:14-15; and much more], except a shade of sadness which I noticed upon their countenances. Their conversation was just like that of the gay, thoughtless ones around them; but they would occasionally point with great satisfaction to the letters on their garments, calling for the others to have the same upon theirs. They were in the broad way, yet they professed to be of the number who were traveling the narrow way. Those around them would say: ‘There is no distinction between us. We are alike; we dress, and talk, and act alike.
Then, I was pointed back to the years 1843 and 1844. There was a spirit of consecration then that there is not now. What has come over the professed peculiar people of God [i.e., thus, it should be obvious that the mammothly deceptive, mammothly guilty, openly Sabbath-polluting, openly idolatrous, and openly heathen churches of the Laodiceans in these last days are nothing like the church of 1844; and, therefore, we should know that the 2300-day prophecy of Daniel 9:24-27; and Daniel 3:18; 5:4, 23-27; and 5T 83:3-84:1, 217:2, written in 1882 (with Exodus 12:12; Ezekiel 20:7; 2SAT 182, or MS 126, December 10, 1901; 1 Chronicles 16:26; Psalms 115:2-8; ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50:1:4; Zephaniah 2:11; Psalms 135:15-18; 1 Chronicles 16:26; Matthew 15:9; PP 305:4-306:1, 336:2; Ezekiel 20:15-16; SD 57, or MS 2 1893; and ST May 19, 1881, or 1ST 227:3:2); and 8T 247:2, 249:2-250:1; and Revelation 3:14-19; 21:7-10, 27; 22:14-15 are being either pretentiously misused, predictably not used at all, falsely or intentionally suppressed, and predictably not applied to self, whereas Daniel and Revelation are being self-exultingly, hypocritically, deceptively, pretentiously, and predictably applied only to neighbors or only to the less deceptive, less guilty, openly Sunday-keeping, openly idolatrous, and openly heathen churches of the Babylonians]? I saw the conformity to the world [i.e., thus, please see ‘the world’ and more discussed in next two Heaven-sent quotes below], the unwillingness to suffer for the TRUTH’S sake. I saw a great lack of submission to the will of God [i.e., thus, ‘will-worship’ and ‘modern, counterfeit sanctification’ are taking place rather than being in ‘submission’ to the ‘will of God,’ as we have already seen in FW 51:1; or RH October 5, 1886]. I was pointed back to the children of Israel after they left Egypt. God in mercy called them out from the Egyptians [i.e., and/or called them out from the heathen], that they might worship Him without hindrance or restraint. . . .

I saw that many who profess to believe the TRUTH for these last days think it strange that the children of Israel murmured as they journeyed; that after the wonderful dealings of God with them, they should be so ungrateful as to forget what He had done for them. Said the angel: ‘Ye have done worse than they.’" --- 1T 127:1-128:4, 129:2, "The Two ways," written in 1856. Bracketed notes supplied.

"In concluding this narrative, I would say that we are living in a most solemn time. In the last vision given me, I was shown the startling fact that but a small portion of those who now profess the TRUTH will be sanctified by it and be saved. Many will get above the simplicity of the work. They will conform to the world [i.e., remember above; and see below], cherish idols [i.e., and/or cherish gods; and/or cherish some prohibited image to represent God], and become spiritually dead. The humble, self-sacrificing followers of Jesus will pass on to perfection, leaving behind the indifferent and lovers of the world [i.e., remember above; and see below].

I was pointed back to ancient Israel. But two of the adults of the vast army that left Egypt [i.e., and/or that left the land of the heathen] entered the land of Canaan. Their dead bodies were strewn in the wilderness because of their transgressions. Modern Israel are in greater danger of forgetting God and being led into idolatry than were His ancient people. Many idols are worshiped [i.e., and/or many gods are worshiped, as seen in Habakkuk 1:5; ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50:1:4; Psalms 115:2-8; 135:15-18; 1 Chronicles 16:26; Matthew 15:9; in 2SAT 181, or MS 126, December 10, 1901; PP 305:4-306:1, 336:2; and, therefore, God’s Word disagrees with what lost, foolishly impenitent, gods or idols worshiping, ‘heathen,’ ‘lukewarm’ ‘Laodiceans’ falsely and predictably claim, as many prohibited images, or gods, or idols that are supposedly being made to represent God are, in the very act of the making of them itself, being worshiped], even by professed Sabbathkeepers. God especially charged His ancient people to guard against idolatry, for if they should be led away from serving the living God, His curse would rest upon them, while if they would love Him with all their heart, with all their soul, and with all their might, He would abundantly bless them in basket and in store, and would remove sickness from the midst of them.
A blessing or a curse is now before the people of God--a blessing if they come out from the world [i.e., remember ‘the world’ and more discussed in this present quote together with the previous quote above; and see the next quote below] and are separate, and walk in the path of humble obedience; and a curse if they unite with the idolatrous, who trample upon the high claims of Heaven. The sins and iniquities of rebellious Israel are recorded and the picture presented before us as a warning that if we imitate their example of transgression and depart from God we shall fall as surely as did they. ‘Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.’ [1 Corinthians 10:11.]." --- 1T 608:4-609:3, "Conflicts and Victory," written in 1867. Bracketed notes supplied.

"The message to the church of the Laodiceans applies especially to the people of God today [i.e., to the professed people of God today]. It is a message to professing Christians who have become so much like the world that no difference can be seen [i.e., thus, please remember ‘the world’ and much more, as discussed in the two previous Heaven-sent quotes above]. [Revelation 3:14-18 quoted.]. . . .
Only those who receive the seal of the living God will have the passport through the gates of the Holy City. But there are many who take upon themselves responsibilities in connection with the work of God who are not wholehearted believers, and while they remain thus cannot receive the seal of the living God. . . .
Those who would have the seal of God in their foreheads must keep the Sabbath of the fourth commandment. This is what distinguishes them from the disloyal, who have accepted a man-made institution [i.e., please remember that the openly idolatrous or openly heathen Laodiceans’ Sabbath-polluting with idols, and/or with gods, and/or with prohibited images made to represent God, and/or with idolatry is also even right now a man-made institution] in the place of the true Sabbath. The observance of God's rest day is the mark of distinction between him that serveth God and him that serveth Him not. . . .

The great mass of professing Christians will meet with bitter disappointment in the day of God. They have not upon their foreheads the seal of the living God. Lukewarm and halfhearted, they dishonor God far more than the avowed unbeliever. They grope in darkness [i.e., thus, please see this ‘darkness;’ and/or this ‘heathenism;’ and/or this ‘idolatry’ discussed in the last seven Heaven-sent quotes of this study, just below] . . . . And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth [i.e., and/or there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that polluteth, as in the openly idolatrous or heathen Laodiceans’ openly idolatrous practice of Sabbath-polluting], neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life. . . .
14 Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the City. 15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie." --- Revelation 21:7-10, 27; 22:14-15. CONCLUSIONS:

Historically, Egyptian-like people or the heathen have always engaged in murder or in human sacrifice of adults and of even their own children to fire. In these last days, rather than repent of their characteristically identifying open idolatry, Egyptian-like people or the heathen are again sacrificing human beings, even their own children, and even babes to fire, but this is an eternal sacrifice to "fire" - - even to the "lake which burneth with fire and brimstone," rather than repent of their gods, and/or of their idols, and/or of their open idolatry. God would guard against the least approach to such abominations. The first four commandments were given to show men their duty to God; the last six, to show the duty of man to his fellow-man.

The fourth commandment is the connecting link between the great God and man. All who should observe the Sabbath [i.e., and/or all who keep the Sabbath free from idolatry; and/or all who thus sacredly observe the Sabbath] would signify by such observance that they were worshipers of the living God, the Creator of the heavens and the earth.

"The church cannot measure herself by the world nor by the opinion of men nor by what she once was [i.e., thus, nor by what she once was back in 1844, for example, as determined from Daniel 9:24-27; but, as used pretentiously, by today’s eternally deadly, eternally dangerous, hypnotically or beguilingly pretentious (8T 247:2, 249:2-250:1), and openly heathen church of the Laodiceans in both a professing Christian guise and in a professing Seventh-day Adventist guise - - right now and even still in the day of God - - just as we have already seen from the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God]. Her faith and her position in the world as they now are must be compared with what they would have been if her course had been continually onward and upward. The church will be weighed in the balances of the Sanctuary. If her moral character and spiritual state do not correspond with the benefits and blessings God has conferred upon her, she will be found wanting. [Daniel 5:27.] The light has been shining clear and definite upon her pathway, and the light of 1882 calls her to an account. If her talents are unimproved, if her fruit is not perfect before God, if her light has become darkness [i.e., and/or if her light has become ‘heathenism,’ which is what the term, ‘darkness,’ actually means, as seen in AA 248:4-249:1;7BC 970:1:7, or Letter 121, 1903; ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50:1:4], she is indeed found wanting. [Daniel 5:27.] The knowledge of our state as God views it, seems to be hidden from us. We see, but perceive not; we hear, but do not understand; and we rest as unconcerned as if the pillar of cloud by day, and the pillar of fire by night, rested upon our sanctuary. We profess to know God, and to believe the TRUTH, but in works deny Him. Our deeds are directly adverse to the principles of TRUTH and righteousness, by which we profess to be governed. . . .
Not all who profess to keep the Sabbath will be sealed. . . .

"The message to the Laodicean church is applicable to our condition." --- 1SM 357:1, "The Righteousness of Christ Presented as Old Truth in New Framework;" or RH July 23, 1889.

Therefore, as seen in the previous twelve Heaven-sent quotes above, in 1882, the Lord warned us that the church of the Laodiceans had turned back from following Christ her Leader and was steadily retreating "toward Egypt" [5T 217:2, written in 1882], and/or toward open heathenism, and/or toward open idolatry, and/or toward openly making to themselves images to represent God, and/or toward demon worship. Now, is there any living and professing Seventh-day Adventist out there who was born before August 2, 1899?--if not, then, every professing Seventh-day Adventist today who was "born and raised in the church" was born and raised in the openly Egypt-like or openly "heathen," "lukewarm ," "Laodicean church" [1SM 357:1, or RH July 23, 1889; ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50:1:4]; because, by August 2, 1899, if not earlier, one can factually state for absolute certainty that the church of the Laodiceans was no longer steadily retreating toward Egypt, but had actually arrived in Egypt and/or had actually arrived in open heathenism; because, in August 2, 1899, the Lord warned us through the sure Words of the Testimony of the Spirit of God about "heathen," "worse than dead," "lukewarm Laodiceans," who are thus also defined by the Lord as being "fraudulent" or "not genuine" "Christians," in ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50, as follows:

        ". . . . the idolatry of the heathen . . . ." --- AA 239:2, "Berea And Athens," written in 1911.

"In imitation of the gods of the heathen, images were made to represent Jehovah, and thus idolatry spread like a plague throughout the land." --- ST June 2, 1881, "The Angel's Reproof;" or 1ST 231:2:3.

        "15 . . . . the idols of the heathen . . . ." --- Psalms 135:15.

        "26 . . . . all the gods of the people are idols . . . ." --- 1 Chronicles 16:26.

Therefore, tragically, in these last days, simply because it is what they were born and raised in, simply because it is what they are familiar with from "birth" [GC 554], and simply because it is what they are naturally and actually comfortable with from "birth" [GC 554],- -what many well-meaning people are calling historical Seventh-day Adventism today is not really historical Seventh-day Adventism at all, but is in reality historical and heathen Laodiceanism; because, again, by August 2, 1899, for certain, the sure Words of the "Testimony of the Spirit of God" [1SM 48:4-5, or Letter 12, 1890, and Letter 40, 1890; and RH August 19, 1890, or 2RH 419-420] plainly sound the warning about "heathen," "worse than dead," "lukewarm Laodiceans," who are also again defined by the Lord as being "fraudulent" or "not genuine" "Christians." See ST August 2, 1899; or 4ST 50 cited previously just six Heaven-sent quotes above.

Now, In 1982, the Laodicean church eliminated Christian standards, but God had not eliminated them, and God has not changed. In other words, in 1982, one day the following holy and sacred Scripture was rightfully regarded; and, the next day, it was "openly disregarded" [1T 21-22]: "9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works." 1 Timothy 2:9-10; 1T 20-21, 504:3-505:1. In other words, in 1982, one day, jewelry, like "gold rings glittering" on someone’s "fingers" [1T 20-21] and like "showy earrings" in their "ears" [1T 20-21] rightfully prevented one from being baptized, but the next day it did not, and self-serving pastors went along with the "Laodiceans' " "apostasy, apostasy, apostasy" [GC 388:1; Revelation 3:14-19], simply in self-serving deference to the "commandments of men" [Matthew 15:9] and thus also in self-serving deference to their own corporate and "vain" "worship" [Matthew 15:9] - - all at that time of decision back in 1982, and even now. But, dear friends, God had not changed. Now, since this "apostasy" [5T 212:2] regarding Christian standards in 1982, there is a whole new generation of professing Adventists, who will one day insist and assert (if not already) that such "apostasy" [5T 212:2] is truly historical Seventh-day Adventism, simply because it is what they were born and raised in, simply because it is what they are familiar with from "birth" [GC 554], and simply because it is what they are actually comfortable with from "birth." GC 554. But why is all of this "apostasy" [5T 212:2], or spiritualism, or heathenism coming in to the Laodicean church? It is because the Laodicean church is in reality the apostate, openly spiritualistic, and/or openly "heathen" "church of the Laodiceans," and is therefore in reality part of Satan’s on-going, "latter times," "counterfeit" "revival" of "heathenism" and/or of "spiritualism" in a professing "religious guise" - - which is all a predicted "event to take place immediately before the second advent of Christ." See 1 Chronicles 16:35; ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50:1:4; 4T 87:2, 6BC 1106:1:2, or RH August 25, 1885; 4T 87:2; PK 682:2; 7BC 959:2;1, or RH August 20, 1903; 7BC 970:1:7, or Letter 121, 1903 [AA 248:4-249:1]; ST May 9, 1906, or 4ST 420; PP 686:2; GC 464:2-465:1, 478:4, 554:2-558:3; and much more.

But why is all of this "apostasy" [5T 212:2], or spiritualism, or heathenism coming in to the Laodicean church? It is because the impenitent, lost, "great mass" of apostate, false, "spiritualistic," "heathen," and/or "Laodicean" "shepherds" are predictably becoming increasingly bold in leading themselves and in leading others deeper and deeper into the openly "spiritualistic" or openly "heathen" "omega" of "apostasy," which is predictably "developing and increasing and waxing stronger, and will continue to do so until the Lord shall descend from Heaven with a shout." See 1 Chronicles 16:35; ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50:1:4; 7BC 970:1:7, or Letter 121, 1903 [AA 248:4-249:1]; ST May 9, 1906, or 4ST 420 [PP 686:2]; SpTB02:14-16, 47-50. 51-56; SpTB0757-64; and 2 Corinthians 6:17-18; 7:1.

But why is all of this "apostasy" [5T 212:2], spiritualism, and/or heathenism coming in to the Laodicean church? It is because the impenitent, lost, "great mass" of apostate, false, "spiritualistic," "heathen," and/or "Laodicean" "shepherds" are predictably defending, cloaking over, and excusing their openly "spiritualistic" or openly "heathen" "form of godliness;" are all "blind;" are "all ignorant;" are "all dumb dogs" that "cannot bark: sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber;" and are all "greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter." See Revelation 3:14-19; 7BC 970:1:7, or Letter 121, 1903 [AA 248:4-249:1]; ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50 [Matthew 15:9; PP 305:4-306:1, 336:2]; 4T 87:2-88:3; Isaiah 5:20; GC 557:1; Isaiah 5:20; 56:10-11; 5T 83:3-84:1, 210:3-212:2; GC 388:1 [Revelation 3:14-19; 21:14-15]; GC 443:5-444:2 [2 Timothy 3:1-8; 4SP 337:1-339:3; 4T 87:2; 2 Timothy 3:1-8; ST December 5, 1895, or 3ST 257; 2 Timothy 3:1-8; ST November 7, 1895, or 3ST 251; 2 Timothy 3:1-8; ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50:1:3-4; 2 Timothy 3:1-8; 8T 247:2, 249:2-250:1; Revelation 3:14-19; 22:14-15]; and thus GC 388:1 [Revelation 3:14-19; 21:14-15]; GC 443:5-444:2, and therefore GC 41:3-48:3, 588:3-589:1.

But why is all of this "apostasy" [5T 212:2], spiritualism, and/or heathenism coming in to the Laodicean church? Well, for example, why is "Easter" increasingly coming in to the Laodicean church, when we have such clear, easy, and Heaven-sent counsel which plainly states that "Easter" "is the old trick of Satan" [1888 GC 386-387], and "Satan" was and is the secretly disguised god of ancient and modern heathenism? - - again, It is because the Laodicean church is in reality the openly spiritualistic or openly "heathen" "church of the Laodiceans." See ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50:1:4; 4T 87:2; 6BC 1106:1:2, or RH August 25, 1885; 4T 87:2; PK 682:2; 7BC 959:2:1, or RH August 20, 1903; ST May 9, 1906, or 4ST 420; PP 686:2; and GC 464:2-465:1, 478:4, 554:2-558:3, written in 1911.

        And, yet, no matter what the "weight of evidence" [DA 458:4] is, and no matter how it piles up in mountains to be, the predictably impenitent, lost, "great mass" of openly "heathen," "worse than dead," "worse than infidels," openly idolatrous and thus openly "Sabbath" polluting , "vain" worshiping , "Satan" worshiping, "Satan" "aiding" or "enemy" "aiding" or "lukewarm Laodiceans" in both a "professing" "Christian" "guise" and in a "professing" "Seventh-day Adventist" "guise" will ever pretentiously deny that there is so much "apostasy," and/or so much "spiritualism," and/or so much "heathenism" increasing coming into the apostate, openly "spiritualistic," and/or openly "heathen" "church of the Laodiceans;" and, therefore, they will never seemingly "understand" nor acknowledge their own corporate, apostate, openly "spiritualistic," and/or openly "heathen" "form of godliness" - - neither right now nor when they meet with "bitter disappointment" "in the day of God." See Isaiah 56:10-11; 5T 210:3-212:2; Revelation 3:14-19; 4T 87:2; 1 Timothy 5:8; 7BC 963:2;4-5, or Letter 44, 1903; 7BC 970:1:7, or Letter 121, 1903 [AA 248:4-249:1]; 1 Chronicles 16:35; ST May 9, 1906, or 4ST 420 [PP 686:2; GC 464:2-465:1, 478:4, 554:2-558:3]; DA 258:1-3, 540:3; ST November 13, 1884, or 1ST 470:1:1; Proverbs 12:22; 15MR 105-106, 107, or MS 131, September 12, 1899; SpTB07:62:4; ST November 13, 1884, or 1ST 470:1:1; DA 258:1-3, 540:3; ST December 5, 1895, or 3ST 257; 2 Timothy 3:1-8; ST November 7, 1895, or 3ST 251; 2 Timothy 3:1-8; 8T 247:2, 249:1-250:1 [Revelation 3:14-19]; 2 Timothy 3:1-8; ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50:1:3-4; Psalms 115:2-8; 135:15-18; 1 Chronicles 16:26; Daniel 3:18; 5:4, 23-27; 1 Chronicles 16:26; Matthew 15:9; John 4:23-24; Revelation 14:6-7; DA 189:3; 1 Corinthians 10;14-15; PP 305:4-306:1, 336:2; Ezekiel 20:15-16; EW 37:1 [Daniel 5:23-27]; Ezekiel 20:15-16; SD 57, or MS 2, 1893; ST May 19, 1881, or 1ST 227-228; 4T 87:2; 1T 296:2-297:1; ST May 19, 1881, or 1ST 227:3:2; SD 57, or MS 2, 1893; 1 Chronicles 16:26; PP 688:4-689:1; 4T 87:2; 5T 160:3; 1T 127:1-129:2, 608:4-609:3; 5T 12:5-15:2; 7BC 959:2:1, or RH August 20, 1903; 7BC 970:1:76, or Letter 121 [AA 248:4-249:1], 1903; 1T 279:2; GC 45:1-46:1, 388:1; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18; and much more.

Fact #1: No heathen is a Christian! Fact #2: No heathen is a Seventh-day Adventist! Fact #3: No fraudulently penitent and no impenitent heathen will ever have passport through the gates of God’s Holy City! Therefore, - - while not being Satanically influenced or controlled by the "heathen" "spirit" and/or by the "heathen" "power" of the predictably impenitent, lost, "great mass" of "heathen," "worse than dead," "worse than infidels," "Satan" "aiding" or "enemy" "aiding" or "lukewarm," "Laodiceans" who will ever predictably manifest their Satanic, openly murderous, or openly human being sacrificing "spirit of hatred" when open "sin" or open "wrongs" are rightfully "reproved" in their much cherished, and/or thus much worshipped, and openly "heathen" "church of the Laodiceans" - - is it not time that we realized and acted upon the fact that no "heathen" "Laodiceans" are Christians nor are they Seventh-day Adventists no matter what they predictably "boast," and that the predictably impenitent, lost, "great mass of "heathen" "Laodiceans" will still be the predictably impenitent, lost, "great mass" of "heathen" "Laodiceans" even when they meet with "bitter disappointment" "in the day of God?" See Exodus 20:3; PP 305:4-5; 2SAT 181, or MS 126, December 10, 1901; PP 308:5-6, 337:2; 6BC 1106:1:2, or RH August 25, 1885; 4T 87:2; PP 337:2; Exodus 20:13; PP 308:5-6; 3T 252:1, 253:3-255:1, 257:3, 265:2-267:2; ST August 2, 1899, or 4ST 50:1:4; 7BC 963:, or MS 138, 1902; 7BC 963:2:4-5, or Letter 44, 1903; 7BC 970:1:2, or Letter 164, 1909; 7BC 970:1:3, or MS 27, 1899; 7BC 970:1:7, or Letter 121, 1903 [AA 248:4-249:1]; and Revelation 3:14-19; 22:14-15.

Therefore, is it not both tragic and startling to realize and to contemplate the great mass of men, women, and children, who will heed the Babylonian message to rightfully "flee" from the deceptive, guilty, impenitent, openly Egypt-like, or openly heathen church of the Babylonians with their open Sunday-keeping, with their open "idolatry," with their corporate and open heathenism, and/or with their open spiritualism in a professing Christian guise; while, at the same time, this same great mass of men, women, and children are hypnotized or beguiled by the "Laodiceans' " "pretense" [8T 247:2, 249:2-250:1; Revelation 3:14-19] into not heeding the Laodicean message to rightfully "flee" from the even more deceptive, even more guilty, impenitent, openly Egypt-like, or openly heathen church of the Laodiceans with their corporate and open Sabbath-polluting, with their open "idolatry," with their open heathenism, and/or with their open spiritualism in both a professing Christian guise and in a professing Seventh-day Adventist guise? 2 Corinthians 10:13-15.

"It is TRUE that spiritualism [i.e., and/or it is true that a modernized form of heathenism, which is what spiritualism actually is, just as we have already seen in ST May 9, 1906, or 4ST 420] is now changing its form and, veiling some of its more objectionable features, is assuming a Christian guise.

Even in its present form, so far from being more worthy of toleration than formerly, it is really a more dangerous, because a more subtle, deception. While it formerly denounced Christ and the Bible, it now professes to accept both. But the Bible is interpreted in a manner that is pleasing to the unrenewed heart, while its solemn and vital TRUTHS are made of no effect [i.e., thus, if you wish, see also 1SM 48:4-5, or Letter 12, 1890, and Letter 40, 1890; and RH August 19, 1890, or 2RH 419-420]. Love [i.e., Satanic, false, counterfeit, spiritualistic or heathen love] is dwelt upon as the chief attribute of God, but it is degraded to a weak sentimentalism, making little distinction between good and evil. God's Justice [i.e., please see below], His denunciations of sin, the requirements of His holy law, are all kept out of sight." --- GC 557:3-558:1, 558:2, "Can Our Dead Speak to Us?," written in 1911. Bracketed notes supplied.

        ". . . . punishment will be proportionate to . . .

"The Sanctuary in Heaven is the very center of Christ's work in behalf of men. It concerns every soul living upon the earth. It opens to view the plan of redemption, bringing us down to the very close of time, and revealing the triumphant issue of the contest between righteousness and sin. It is of the utmost importance that all should thoroughly investigate these subjects, and be able to give to every one that asketh them a reason for the hope that is in them.
We are now living in the great day of atonement. In the typical service, while the high priest was making the atonement for Israel, all were required to afflict their souls by repentance of sin, by humiliation before the Lord, lest they be cut off from among the people. In like manner, all who would have their names retained in the book of life, should now, in the few remaining days of their probation, afflict their souls before God by sorrow for sin, and TRUE repentance. There must be deep, faithful searching of heart. The light, frivolous spirit indulged in by so many professed Christians must be put away. There is earnest warfare before all who would subdue the evil tendencies that strive for the mastery. The work of preparation is an individual work. We are not saved in groups. The purity and devotion of one will not offset the want of these qualities in another. Though all nations are to pass in Judgment before God, yet He will examine the case of each individual with as close and searching scrutiny as if there were not another being upon the earth. Every one must be tested, and found without spot or wrinkle or any such thing.

Solemn are the scenes connected with the closing work of the atonement. Momentous are the interests involved therein. The Judgment is now passing in the Sanctuary above. For more than sixty years this work has been in progress. Soon--none know how soon--it will pass to the cases of the living. In the awful presence of God, our lives are to come up in review. At this time, above all others, it behooves every soul to heed the Savior's admonition, ‘Watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.’ [Mark 13:33.] ‘If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.’ [Revelation 3:3.]." --- RH November 9, 1905, "Lessons From the Life of Solomon, No. 9 (The Ark of the Covenant;" or 5RH 184. Bracketed notes supplied.

Our Father in Heaven, we thank You for the privilege of prayer, and we close with this Scriptural prayer: "35 And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to Thy holy name, and glory in Thy praise." 1 Chronicles 16:35. May Your will be done. In the already forever sacred and holy name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
